    Thai street fight/bar fight stories?

Anyone got any Thailand street fight/bar fight/altercation kind of stories that they'd care to share? I am kind of in the mood to hear about other fights after the BTS thing happened. Alas my stories are not that interesting. Like I see the fights, but I was never around to know the backstory of what it was all about and what started the fight. That's the interesting part.

I've had a couple BIBs draw their guns in drunken rages towards me with intent at a local watering hole [sing-a-song] and a wild wedding....[restaurant]

You didn't hear about the Irish Falang that was beaten about the head by BTS security?

The video only begins after he had been struck in the head by a BTS guard. He's already bloodied when the video begins. He was trying to bring back balloons from his 4 year old daughter's graduation (the daughter is in the video). BTS guard apparently would not allow him on the train with balloons. This happened on March 18, 2012.

^^ I would have had to bash that guard. What a wanker. I guess balloons are dangerous.

You said it. No, SubM, hadn't seen that. Jeez, what a bunch of maroons. One day I was bringing my son back from the Red Cross snake farm and the BTS guards made him put the wooden snake toy he was carrying in a bag. Didn't look real to me, but then I am not Thai so I know what a real snake looks like , so in the bag went the wooden snake. He got it out again the train, hoping for pandemonium but was disappointed.

Those BTS guards are bored and underpaid, but they do have uniforms, so respect their authoritah!

BTS rules do seem pretty daft but those are the rules. His wife/girlfriend didn't seem to be doing much to help and always good to see a guy start a fight over nothing with his kids at his side. Interesting looking at the comments (just a skim through the first page on youtube) - most of them, despite the beliefs of some on this board, seem remarkably balanced.

^It's hard to say what precipitated the incident since it was apparently already underway when the video started. Had he bought the fares before they decided "no balloons" (I doubt that's part of the rules- sounds like an arbitrary decision by the guards. No fake snakes I can kind of understand)? If not, why not just take a taxi? Maybe Drummond's site has more info, guess I'll have to check it. . .

Based on the account here it sounds like the BTS guard was being rather silly and quick on the draw with the truncheon. It's not easy to stop an Irishman by beating him over the head with a stick, you have to hit him in the vitals. http://www.andrew-drummond.com/view-story.php?sid=527

The folks on TD seem to be well informed, so I thought it was already known on this board about what had happened.

Yes, the opinions seem to be divided 50/50. No one really knows what happened. There are different reports coming in from both sides.

Some people have claimed that the BTS security guard told the Falang not to remove half the balloons he was carrying, and the Falang shoved him or hit him, Some people reported that he was walking and security came and hit him in the head from behind with a metal detector.

Since what happened to cause all of this is not on the video, I don't really know what happened. Apparently though his eye socket was fractured from the strike.

I had a similar experience in Tokyo Disneyland- I bought a really cool-looking rubber snake in one of their shops, and tossed it over my shoulder after paying for it- they insisted on putting it in a bag and stapling/taping it shut as I wasn't allowed to display it on the grounds- why do you sell the fucking thing if it's not allowed on your property outside your own shop?
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

It turns out that there's a BTS forum (wonders never cease) and a very quick skim seems to show you're allowed to bring one small balloon onto the system so I think the guards were probably right about that but, as you say, who knows what preceded the clip.

^^So there's a balloon rule? I'd like to see the guards enforce the "Don't stand in the front of the middle of the train doorway while waiting to get on" for people who don't know what arrows mean. I'll admit to being a little bit less than polite trying to get off the train when confronted with a herd of cattle attempting to stampede through from the platform as soon as the door cracks open. That could one day provide material for a Bangkok combat tale. At least Thais know when the train is full and that another is coming shortly, something the Japanese, for all their cultural superiority, haven't figured out.

The Japanese know full well how the trains are- they also know that the next train coming is packed as well (at the busiest times they run every two minutes), and if they don't get on the current one the queue behind them will become overwhelming.

I did my time on the Yamanote Line during rush hour.

I could be wrong about her age...or she could be an unusually large 4 year old...perhaps the truth lies somewhere in between.

Not being a parent, I'm a bit confused about what or where 4-year olds graduate from.
