What on earth is going on at the immigration bureau in Chiang Mai?

Jesus, I went today for the routine 90 days reporting, normally finished in 10- 15 minutes.

I arrived at 11am, got a ticket - 598, there were 47 people in the queue! and two people manning the guns.

12 o'clock came, they were up to No. 557 - and they buggered off for lunch - who can blame them.

I went to the Com Plaza until 12:30 and came back as it seemed like they were doing a bit of OT!

It eventually took me until 2PM to get the thing done - They fucked up in my favour as normally you are only issued the 90 day report as long as it is within your unexpired visa (I.E I had 90 days before that would have took me to April, but they cancelled it as my Visa expires in March, this time they issued the full three months right through to June despite my visa renewal is in April!

It is funny to watch some of these farang that turn up here though, there was a couple of old (60+ English Sluts + Tattoos) that turned up DEMANDING a 60 day extension on some 15 day visa they had picked up - probably along with a dose of the clap....they just would not settle for the answers the girls on the ticket machine gave them, so they spent an hour arguing with a few of the immigration guys behind the desk. Got no where, but were dedicating themselves to a trip to the immigration in Bangkok.

Then we were treated to some Scandinavian [at][at][at][at], who was quite abusive and loud mouthed to everyone, including the girls giving out the queue tickets. The queue was at about 580, he had a ticket for 610, but he felt it was necessary to jump the queue because he had his fucking dog tied up outside. Needless to say he was sent cursing like the shit he was to the back of the queue - in fact I think he fucked off.

Then there was this guy who came in dressed like little Lord Fucking Fauntleroy, dapper to the hilt, and was informing everyone that he needed to leave Thailand next month on a "Very Important" Business meeting and wanted to make a fucking appointment! They got rid of that idiot by giving him the email address to book online.

It was the worst ever 90 days I have ever done, but the most interesting observing some of the people in that place.

I still think immigration could be improved if they were to erect a shed outside to deal with the Burmese, and the 60 year old Farang that turned up today with Bob Marley dreadlocks, seriously, I wished I had had a camera. My son was on his back laughing, he kept making jokes that if the fucker sneezed, his hair would shoot across the room!

We foreigners must prove to be an oddity to the Thais!

No, this seems to be normal up at CM!
I went to renew my extension (The one year) which was due in March 22) I applied Feb 28.

My 90 days was last renewed in January, I think 19th, but when I went to apply for my visa, my 90 days was reset to 22nd March, (When my extension runs out) and after my application for extension my "turn up again date for my extension is set to April 21st)

Normally, up here they will not extend the 90 days beyond your last valid visa date, so I quite expected to get another summons on the 21st of April, but no, it has been put through until June. ( I expected to get another 90 day report for the 21st April)

Example - if you have one month on your extension of saty but 2 months on your 90 days, they curtail your 90 days to make sure you report withing the period that your extension is still valid! - You can end up doing 3 trips to immigration and sufferring this shit within one month! A few years back, if you applied a month before the due date, they would make you return to the office every month and restamp your passport for another month so you had to go back three times before you got the extension, at least now they max it out until 1 month after the due date!

In fact the last time I got this shit, they refused the photocopies that they normally love, and just extended my 90 day period.

However, one new thing appeared today - they stuck a barcode into my passport, so it looks like we will be getting scanned soon, I hope it means the end to these ridiculous fucking paper copies!

Plant a tree for the King of Thailand and have immigration burn a thousand in their wake!

It always amazes me - What do they do with all of these multiple photocopies? What on earth is the point?

I had a boss years ago, whose engineers requested mountains of paperwork and data which was a nightmare for us to collect and organise.

He rang me one night and told me to simply ask them the results of what they had learned from it, send a summarized report....and let them HANG THEMSELVES SLOWLY!

He knew as well as me, these fuckers did nothing with it, they just wasted peoples time with a paperwork exercise.

There were more than the average number of freaks there that day I must admit, it was a treat for people watching, and the fucking IEEEE1394 I bought at Com Plaza during the lunch break is some Chinese piece of shit that is only fit for the bin, so there!
