Sorry Yaso, I had to turn it off after just over a minute. I was brought up around farming, and have never seen such things at any slaughter house I visited, or saw such treatment at any farm. I dont doubt for one minute that these things go on around the world. With all the stress these animals are put through, I cant imagine what the meat tastes like. Its probably sent to all the mass produces.

Wow - that is one pretty disturbing video, I had to turn it off after a minute or so. It is a crying shame that so called human beings can inflict such tremendous suffering and pain on these animals.

I'm fully aware of where those nice shiny packs come from, I just didn't realise how much unnecessary torture was involved in the process.

    Back to my porn.

Animal cruelty is a particular hatred of mine, in fact it is probably my strongest hatred. It makes me wonder about the depraved psyche of the sort of people that would do this, to a beast that has never harmed them, and poses no threat whatsoever. I'm not lying- I would like to see cases of extreme animal cruelty rewarded by the Death penalty.

    I can't watch the video.

They can be cruel in the stock yards when they show cattle for auction. There used to be a guy who was proud of his cattle prod. Really agressive moving them around the pen. I always wanted to use it on him to give a taste of his own medicine. I recall a man who bought a considerable amount of cattle at one point got them back to his ranch and most suffered form shipping fever or stress if you want to call it and he lost a few. There was a big stink about it in the community and the jerk was fired.

That video is not typical of what goes on in the meat industry.

The vid is a hysterical piece of vegan propaganda.

^yea I watched the whole thing too definately mostly alarmist propaganda from PETA fanatics.
Though the stuff about poultry is probably standard practice.
The jewish slaughter of cows was especially nasty.

The US is not a third world country of uneducated people, though there are no federal laws in place, on Animal cruelty, hence Factory farms can and do abuse, heres a vid from a big US turkey producing company.

Anyone that finds this cruelty as standard, has a lot to see about there own pysche.
and i am not Vegan, or belong to any such groups.
Looking on the web the US, is coming out Tops for Animal abuse.Shocking and chilling that the worlds police live in barbaric times.

The US is not a third world country of uneducated people,
The first part of that sentence is true (just because of what the words mean), the second less so. But is anybody really shocked by this? Why do you think we have industrial farming? Why is meat so plentiful and cheap?
The vid is a hysterical piece of vegan propaganda.
You don't have to be a vegan to be concerned about animal welfare.

^ What does that mean? That what the video shows doesn't matter because it's made by some people who have opinions about diet that you don't agree with? There's a ton of evidence that the whole industrial food industry fucks up animals, fucks up the environment and fucks up us. And it doesn't matter whether it's a fruitarian or a 100% carnivore who says that - it's true (or possibly false) regardless of what you put on your fucking plate.

possibly Animal welfare may not interest some but what your putting into yourself and your Children should be a concern to everyone.

We are starting our own free ranch farm soon, solely for this reason, if we can not sell the produce thats fine by me, we will know what we are eating.

heres a link to some issues arising from Animal factory farming, theres many such links on the web, many of these govts do not give a fek what your putting inside you.

The link in the OP would not work for me but the state of the meat industry in the US and elsewhere for that matter is sick. I buy all my meat from a butcher that only slaughters local product. Think before you buy.

Having hunted and butchered a fair few beasts in my lifetime, I have very rarely seen deliberately inhumane treatment of animals on farms, slaughterhouse floors and pens. Anyone caught mistreating stock as depicted in the vid. would be fired in this day and age.

I've raised stock also, and none of them were treated by the meat industry in the ways shown in the vid, it's not standard practice.

The vid. is a collection of views and clips of extremely cruel behaviour practiced by rogue operators, most likely in USA.

The level of filth and overcrowding depicted is exemplar of unregulated industry, because inspectors these days are a pretty conscientious bunch, who, if they saw the things depicted in the vid in real life would have the production outlets involved shut down immediately.

Butterball company is a multi national company, with over a billion dollar sales, hardly a small company, but rogue, you are spot on.

^^ Ten minutes looking around will reveal a Himalaya of evidence of shitty treatment of animals, against which all the I've-never-seen-it means exactly nothing. But even stuff within the law is still an abomination - life in a feedlot is fucking grim.

    Kudos, Sabang.

As we are the only life form that displays such consistent negative character traits. The natural cycles and connections will deal with humans [a certain variety of our species] justly, and in time, her own way.

^^I'd like to see this Himalaya of evidence that you mention.

As I pointed out, such cruel practices would be jumped on these days in the west.

The Australian govt also were letting companies sell livestock not long ago, knowing full well the Barbaric abuses, but hey fek the animals, were getting the taxes from it.

Cruelty is for the most part unnecessary in meat production. We, especially in the West, consume too much meat because industrial meat production, even forms that might not be as cruel as portrayed in the video, keeps the consumer price low.

One thing I like to ask the more moralistic vegans (is there any other kind?) if they are sure the people involved in the production of their fruits and veggies were treated fairly. How much are the apple and tomato pickers getting for a day's work? Are they all documented workers (undocumented workers are subjected to abuse and low pay)? I have a hard time understanding people who seem to focus on the plight of animals while ignoring their fellow humans. It smacks of a superiority complex.

Animals are raised and hunted to be eaten. Is killing them and eating them part of life or would you prefer to eat them while still alive? I agree cruel practices should not be tolerated. But then again, is killing an animal cruel or not? What about raising it up just for food, to be eaten?
