In the absence of any sudden road accident or whatever I will be checking out at a time and place of my choosing once I have nothing else to do and something grim is on the horizon (cancer/other terminal/unbearable condition). No idea what the big deal is all about with suicide being taboo. Civilised option if you ask me.

Thats another thing. I want to try meth amphetamine, crack cocaine and heroin once I am on the home straight. Be nice to try them once it is too late to fuck up your entire life. Hope there is a dealer in the old folks home.

try them now, maybe that home straight may be sooner than you think

Why wait until you're approaching death? Hardly the best time for new experiences.

You just have to be a bit more creative.

Risks. Addiction. Criminal charges. I don't now anybody who does drugs and I am not even sure how to start finding out how to buy them.

Also I am only mildly interested in trying them so I don't think the benefits outweigh the risks.

Would be a bummer though if it turned out to be a nirvana like experience which I had been missing out on all my life. Although thinking like that would be a bit of a glass is half empty attitude when I could be thankful that I had not missed out completely.

I think people have a twofold problem with euthanasia :
Those sometimes religious types who think it's morally wrong for a person to take their own life.
And those who are worried that other people may take a life....for instance greedy relatives signing a 'death permission' for a deteriorating and possibly semi-conscious old person.

Though in ENT's case it should be done out of pity

I do. One of my kids wrote a great essay for her mock ICGSE's on that very topic. Now I have to buy a new printer, scanner cool thing. She got very high marks from something she wrote that was marked in/at Cambridge. proud dad.

Hate to disappoint you but if it went to OCR exam board, it was probably marked by a supply teacher in Doncaster.

Meth wouldn't be too hard to find. Probably start with your local brothel. All a good laugh until you go totally mad and your teeth fall out.

People that have religious beliefs that promise reincarnation or an afterlife are safe in the knowledge that they will be re-united with their loved ones.
Problem is only an atheist can suicide without built in penalty clause.

I'm totally pro-euthanasia. Watch someone you care about suffer with a terminal illness, racked with pain, drugged up to the eyeballs, until the end comes. How many times do we hear of someone's passing being a 'blessed release' ? Not for me and if that makes me a coward so be it. Hell, you wouldn't let a dog suffer in agony, you would do the kind thing - so what's the big difference?

Yes, you should have the choice. Actually you do have the choice. Millions of people take their own lives every year, and that is nothing to do with the big nose of the law.

but even those should have the choice and be helped
