    Schools out for summer....

What are you meant to do with them?

Had a nice routine of dropping the sprog off for 8:30 then back for a bike ride with the missus followed by a 5 minute shag. Now that is all out the window.

It's a weekend for the next 2 months.

So I'm packing the car up and taking off to Hua Hin for a week to keep us all entertained. Is there anything to do in Hua Hin family wise?

Only thing I have found so far is a donkey ride on the beach but I heard that the donkey mahoots are a bad lot and have been discouraged from giving them any baht.

Then again if the little one would have a blast why should I care about the life quality of a donkey?

    Other suggestions welcome.

there is a summer school in hua hin, its called vic hua hin, it runs daytime playgroups, exercise and gym classes, art, drama and music classes for kids of all ages.

its just over the flyover on the road out of hua hin towards pranburi, on the right just past the road out to the new floating market theme place.

owned and run by a famous thai actress, its very western orientated and forward thinking....i.e. super trendy, but worth a visit for a walk around anyway, your lad/lass may like it.

^^ they had that option but it just looked like another month of the same for an inflated price.

I remember 6 week summer holidays as a kid and it seemed to last forever.

Anyway I'll be back off to work again in a couple of weeks so it'll be up to the trouble and strife to cope with for the main. So far her tactic is watching Thai slapstick on channel 3.

Thanks... I might search that out. The missus might like it too if there is a chance of meeting some star.

Floating market is also on the 'to do' list.

Schools = children's prisons and indoctrination centres.

Isn't that some sort of child cruelty?

I used to long for the summer holidays. 7 weeks of wandering the town and countryside and beach doing whatever you want with no bastard school to go to.

Good idea rent them out as child labour and sit back back with a cold beer

Play and recreation is also considered educational and necessary for children. Let them take the summer off and just enjoy being kids.

I had a friend who used to put his kid in an After School club. He asked if I would pick his daughter up for him one night after work, as I was driving that day. It was shortly before Christmas and after she got into the car, I asked what Santa was bringing her. "Father Christmas doesn't come to our house" was her response. I'd been lift sharing with this guy for 2 years and he'd never mentioned being a Jehovahs Witness. I thought they liked knocking on peoples doors and telling the world ?
Anyway, "All work and No play makes Jack a dull boy".
It will also make him hate your guts

Go-kart racing at Hua Hin (on the way to the airport). Expensive but fun.

Good idea. I have mine doing chimney-sweeping and pickpocketing when his little hands become idle.

I am on a 5 week on / 5 week off rota at the moment so it isn't really an option to take a 2 month block off as holiday....

The week in Hua Hin starting tomorrow will be quality time and I will be back from work a few weeks before the daughter is due to start the new school year

She is a couple of months from being 3 years old and as she gets older I will try and make sure I have more time off during the school holidays. Earning more cash is a priority at the moment though as it will be helping to keep her in an ok education.

Gallowspole: I like the go karts idea - the daughter and missus can watch me razz around from the stands...
