    A Filipina Dancer Story

Two months ago, I was in a bar and saw a young dancer I had casually known sitting all alone and looking sad and teary. Not at all her normal, bubbly self. I didn't know her well at all, but had bought her a drink or two previously and chatted a bit. Story unfolds that her sister is confined to the hospital and she can't afford to pay either the hospital bill or for the antibiotics her sister needs.

Being flush at that particular moment, I gave her $200. I never expected to see the money again, but figured what the hell, do something good for a change. Went back to the bar a week or so later and the owner (a friend of many years) told me she hadn't been in for a week.

Wrote it off and forgot about it. Today, I get a call from the bar owner who says he is holding for me a paper bag full of small Peso bills equal to $200. Dropped off by some girl he didn't know with a note to pass to 'Sir Dave'.

No matter how old you are or how much you've been around, there are still things out there that can blow your mind!

Onya Davis. The other day I was at the war museum in Saigon and this poor bastard with no arms and a foked leg waddles up to me.

I thought here we go, he is on the bum for some free dosh which I was more than happy to give him.

Anyway I rip out the cash and went to shove it his pocket but he rebuked me and said he don't except gifts.

I thought W>T>Fuk and just stood there confused until he walked off.

    Strange world innit ?

Yep, on the plane to Hoi-an in 60 minutes.

Saigon has been pumping the last week for the Xmas celebrations. Quite amazing really.

You been hanging around down district one around the buffalo bar?
That's a fun area round those few blocks.

    Nice story Davis.

A few years ago, a similar thing happened to me. There was one particular bg in Chiang Mai that I really enjoyed chatting to.Used to have a few beers in her bar every couple of weeks.

One day she asked me for a two thousand baht "loan" . So I gave it to her never expecting it back.

I gave the piss away for a while and forgot totally about the loan.

I was walking through the night market one evening (About 6 months later) and I got this tap on the shoulder...a big grin...and you guessed it...the little hua gave me my money back!!

Good on you Davis, good things come to those who care.Categorising all people the same once again proven to be incorrect. I bet it gave you a nice feeling and helped the young lady out as well in the process.

Nice story DK, it's nice to come across people who have pride and are honest.
So many scam stories going around so it's lovely to hear that there's still some gooduns out there.

Thought giving up the grog is supposed to improve the memory?

Did you take the pesos or tell the girl (via the owner) to keep it?

Good for you Davis. Same thing happened to me in Thailand. Goes to show that most BG are people too and should be treated properly.
