    Aussie Cheese

Not easy to find decent cheese around these parts. In the 7/11 it's craft cheese slices or nothing. I was therefore awaiting the grand opening of a Tesco Lotus mini market that has been under construction for some time.

I perused the meat section - actual chicken breasts, cuts of pork and beef that actually resembled what you might buy at home in the west (or a decent supermarket here) rather than lumps of "meat" that you often see in the markets. So far so good.

I slowly made my way to the dairy section with my hopes buoyed by the fruit and meat sections. They did indeed have the ubiquitous cheese slices but unfortunately no decent blocks of cheese, head bowed I took my leave but not before this caught my eye.

Better than you'd have thought it would be, but slightly spoilt by the negative connotations of the name.

Is it really sold as "Coon Cheese" in Australia??

ha ha just had a look on wikipedia, looks like it was called Coon Cheese because it came in a black wrapper. When it was pointed out to them that it wasn't the most inclusive of names they said that the owner of the company was called John W Coon or something. made me laugh whether it's true or not i dunno.

How did you go about consuming this product, Al? Tip up the RESEALABLE BAG for FRESHNESS and let rip in the direction of your salivating cakehole or conservatively nibble with crackers?

And the 25% Less Fat as we all know is usually detrimental to any culinary product, was this the case re Coon?

It's thing like this we should, nay MUST establish before continuing..

    It's made from coon smegma.
They harvest it in the early morning in the public parks while coons are sleeping off the meths.

It was OK mate - actually tasted like cheese. Could have been a little more mature but more than edible non the less. Main mode of consumption inside two rounds of bread with some onion and tomato "dans le Brevil."

Just purchased some more. 71b also got some bacon there. Swerved the mayonnaise as it looked to me very much like the sweet one. ewwwww

    ^ nice 1 MTD.

The only Aussie 'cheese' I can give ya is the stuff that comes from behind my ear when I scratch it after a few days out bush. It smells like parmesan only stronger. A true vintage.
