    IOM 1000 SuperStock race 6 June 2011

Dunlop dominates to seal Superstock victory

Michael Dunlop made up for the disappointment of retiring from the morning’s Monster Energy Supersport Race 1 by winning Monday evening’s delayed 4-lap Royal London 360 Superstock race.

Dunlop overhauled lap one leader Guy Martin and promptly romped away, putting in a second lap some 13 seconds quicker than his nearest rival giving him the cushion that allowed him to control the race after the pit stop. His eventual winning margin, the 9th TT win for Kawasaki, was 18.63s over John McGuinness, the Padgetts Honda rider overhauling Martin on the third lap. However, the Relentless by TAS Suzuki rider had the consolation of his second podium of the day.

IOM TT Zero event - electric bikes!

The TT Zero Race is a one-lap race for electric-powered bikes; last year won by the MotoCzysz E1PC and they're back this year. In practice Michael Rutter did a lap in 24 23.99 with an average speed of 92.779mph (down on last year's winning average of 96.82). It was recorded at 142.8mph on IOM's Sulby Straight. The IOM Gov't 10k may be safe for another year.

The 2011 SES TT Zero race will take place on Wednesday 8th June and MotoCzysz will be one of a number of teams that will be aiming to be the first to achieve the historic 100mph mark for a clean emissions bike. The Isle of Man Government has offered a £10k prize to the first Clean Emissions team to achieve the prestigious 100mph lap around the 37 ¾ mile course

And some may have a little, er, snigger here . . .

Beyond the electric motorcycle technical accomplishment, this is the first time an American-made bike has won a race at the Isle of Man since Indian debuted a two-speed gearbox in 1911 and only the second time an American rider has finished first there.

Vermeulen back on board at Misano

After being forced to miss the overseas race at Miller Motorsports Park in the USA, Chris Vermeulen will be back on his Kawasaki Ninja machine this weekend at Misano. The Australian, former World Supersport champion back in 2003, has recovered from the recent injury to his left elbow he picked up at Monza, but above all had a positive test last week at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain.
"We tested recently at Aragon, at the full Superbike track and it was good because I had never been there, which means I have learned the layout for that race which happens right after Misano," said Chris. "The first day I did 60 laps and the second day 72, so it wasn't too bad. We got a lot of work done and tried a lot of parts and settings."

"My previously injured knee is a lot better than it has been. I am feeling more and more back to my old self on the bike. The elbow I injured recently will also be a lot better when we get to Misano. Now I am just looking forward to getting to a racetrack I know well, on a bike I have tested and ridden a lot more now."

This year Vermeulen, who has never really been 100% fit, has only taken part in the first race at Assen, and the Brisbane rider is hoping for a turnaround in his fortunes this weekend.

bugger!! 99.64mph average. Top speed 149.5mph.
These bikes make no sound - spectators can't hear when one is approaching, suggestions that they have noise-makers on them next year!

Isle of Man TT star Michael Rutter narrowly missed out on cracking the prestigious 100mph mark for an electric bike for the first time in today's SES TT Zero Race.

He took his Segway MotoCzysz machine to an electric bike record 99.64mph lap, breaking the record that his team-mate Mark Miller set last year, but narrowly missing out on the £10,000 prize fund allocated by the Isle of Man Government for the first electric bike team to achieve a 100mph average speed for the 37¾ mile circuit.

Rutter topped the speed trap times at Sulby, posting an impressive 149.5mph, and he later revealed in the post race press conference that he thought that the bike could have gone even quicker but held back to conserve power.

IOM - Senior TT, the final event

McGuinness secures 17th TT win and 2011 championship in thrilling finale

John McGuinness won a thrilling PokerStars Senior race on Friday evening when he came from behind to take his 17th TT victory in the final race of the 2011 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy in a new Race Record time of 1:45.45.80, beating Steve Plater’s 2009 time.

The race was delayed by 5 hours due to inclement weather in the North of the Island, and the Honda TT Legends rider found himself seven seconds in arrears at the end of the first lap but he gradually reeled in early race leader Guy Martin and he was 13 seconds clear by the end of lap 5. His eventual winning margin over the Relentless by TAS Suzuki rider was 7.2s while Bruce Anstey, who was right in the frame in the early laps, took third on the Padgetts Honda a further 7 seconds behind Martin.

With two wins and four podiums, McGuinness was the comfortable winner of the overall TT Championship taking the Joey Dunlop Trophy by 31 points from Amor and Martin.

    Championship leader heads them again

Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) took his second win of the day, and his eighth of the year, to extend his championship lead over second place race finisher Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia). The first running of the race was nullified when Marco Melandri crashed and his machine lay in a dangerous position on the racetrack, leading to 14-lap race, which determined all the places and full points.
Third place was fought over to the last possible moment, with Noriyuki Haga (Pata Aprilia) and Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike) third and fourth respectively. Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike) crashed out, but Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) kept it upright to take fifth.

Max takes first 2011 race win

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) took his long awaited first win of the 2011 season after an immaculate display of front running, heading Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike) by 4.809 seconds, after Melandri ran off track at one point, with a few laps to go.
Local rider and championship leader Carlos Checa (Althea Racing) completed a damage limitation exercise after his fall in race one, scoring third in the second 20-lap contest, from the impressive Michel Fabrizio (Suzuki Alstare). Joan Lascorz (Kawasaki Racing Team) was a home-town top five finisher, from Eugene Laverty (Yamaha World Superbike) and Noriyuki Haga (Pata Aprilia).

In the championship, Checa now has 261 points, Biaggi 218 and Melandri 195.

Melandri from Biaggi and Checa in race one

Marco Melandri (Yamaha Word Superbike) took his third win of the year to lead his championship rivals Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) and Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) across the line in race one. The top three were covered by only 0.436 seconds after 20 hot laps.

At one stage Michel Fabrizio (Suzuki Alstare) looked capable of catching the leading trio, but he slowed to take a safe and yet still impressive fourth. Eugene Laverty (Yamaha World Superbike) went from the front row to fifth. The man most on the move in the race was Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike) as he passed several riders to get up to sixth. Biaggi's team-mate Leon Camier took seventh, with Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) eighth.

Biaggi, Melandri and Checa dominate race two

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) and Marco Melandri (Yamaha Word Superbike) ended up deciding the race two result in a man-to-man duel, which went the way of the 2010 world champion. The margin of victory was only 0.222 seconds, with Melandri right behind his countryman but unable to pass Biaggi on the final few corners.
Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) was in a clear third place, with Michel Fabrizio (Suzuki Alstare) having a good race again and finishing fourth.

Eugene Laverty (Yamaha World Superbike) could not catch the top quartet, but was safe in a lonely fifth. Once again Ayrton Badovini (BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike) impressed the paddock with his prowess and he took sixth place, one ahead of official rider Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport).

In the championship fight, Checa leads with 293 to Biaggi's 263, with Melandri on 240. Laverty is fourth, with 168.

^ yep doin well Bob ,,,,,,,,the Aussies are in a run off with us UK tomoz night in Poland along with Sweeden and Russia ,,,,,,,,,to be honest mate the Ruskies are brill but theres a lot of political bollix goin on and they cant field a proper side. Weve lost Scott nichols tomoz night as his partner has just had a major op and he is to look after her and their daughter ,, we have no hope now with Lewis Bridger in as replacement ,, sorry he is out his depth here .

I aint a Crump fan I will be honest with you , for one thing he is English not Austrailian ,, However before you burst a vessel I know many people use whatever seems to suit them nationallity wise these days . Having said all that I am not blind to the fact that the guy is extremely talented on a motorbike and you have to take your hat off to him for his undying commitment to each race and professionalism .

Its gonna be a good night tomoz in Poland and if I were a betting man I would say the safe money will be on your team going through ,, allthough if the Ruskies can sort this team debacle out caused by the Russian speedway authorities I think they can spring a suprise !

Will let you know on Friday mate

Quite frankly as a speedway nation we was embarrasing coming last and not qualifying , Scott Nicholls deciding to stay at home to play happy families ,, about sums it up !

Its gonna be close between Denmark / Sweeden / Poles and Aussies ,,,,,,,,the weather forcast for Krakow is good for sat night so we have a couple of beers in the fridge ready to watch it on tv
