Even the twos look easy now.
6 to win.
Too good from Watson.
Great game
Watson's been the best Aussie cricketer all summer and deserves to have a few around him with a bit more grit and talent.
Maybe he should team up with the Poms? He'll not find many in green & gold.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
For the first time in living memory I'll have to agree with you, or team up with a few Seth Efricans..........Oh he would be if he joined the Poms.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog

Q. How many players in the recent Ashes Series did not have a parent from the country they represented?
^ Moreover Bob, do you think that great cricketers are manufactured or are born with natural talent and don't need so much coaching?
It is of my opinion the greatest cricketers have it in their blood (born with the gift) with ability coming naturally.
Natural talent is the key, but it does need to be brought out and refined sometimes.
I've answered your question, now answer mine....
I'm still padding up on your question Bob.Originally Posted by Bobcock
And I'm not as good at googling as you seem to be.
What do you think about the fact that most of the key players in the English ashes squad were born in Seth Effrica Bob?
By key players I take it you mean Cook, Anderson, Tremlett and Bresnan?
No, I didn't think so, you mean Trott, Pieterson and probably Strauss, though that's a very tenous third one....
I don't think anything about it, they are all British Passport holders, all of them have one or more English parent and only two of them ever played cricket in South Africa (other than for England), so to be honest it doesn't mean anything to me.
Jeez....Strauss who has been in England with his English mother since the age of 6 sounds even more Enghlish than you and that's saying something.
Does the fantastic achievements of the Australian Rugby Union feel diminished to you in anyway for having foreign born players?
Here's a few to start with, some of them are (debatably of course) your four current best players............ thank God there has never been a Strauss play for the Wallabies, it would be the end of....
By the way, just ask if you wanna know who they are, I doubt you recognise them.

^ Mostly Pacific Islanders Bob, born on our doorstep and if we didn't give them a chance who would?
England have always been eager to use foreign born captains even 1 Aussie.
England have been captained by a Scot (Mike Denness), four South African-born players (Tony Greig, Allan Lamb, Andrew Strauss and Kevin Pietersen), three Indian-born players (Douglas Jardine, Colin Cowdrey and Nasser Hussain), Italian-born (Ted Dexter) and Australian-born (Gubby Allen). South African Cape Coloured player Basil D'Oliveira famously played for England during the Apartheid era, whilst other notable players of the past 20 years include Graeme Hick (Zimbabwe), Andrew Caddick (New Zealand) and Geraint Jones (Papua New Guinea/Australia).

Anyway the pictures....there were three pure South Africans, one Kiwi, one Irishman, one Zimbabwean and one Australian of English parents who has recently taken British citizenship...that makes 70% of them....so your Mostly Pacific Islanders is a little off the mark LT.
I knew damn well you wouldn't have a clue who they were.
So the two questions, you haven't answered either of them...any reason why?
^He who is without sin cast the first stone
^Yep, LT opened up a can of worms for himself.....silly boy
I for one was ashamed of Wales when Graham Henry used Kiwis who had zero Welsh connections. A Welsh parent or having played all their rugby in Wales is fine, but a guy with 5 Kiwi caps already was embarrassing.
Luckily none of the above examples are so bad....well....apart from one....

In fact you are questioning Wikipedia not me and with regard to what I posted so take the matter up with them.
And by the way they (not me) must have missed the Taffy captain.
With regard to all the Wallaby players and those pictures you posted I have watched them and recognize each player and know most of their names.
Moreover, I am a person who loves to watch the game, rarely reads newspapers, never search their family names and wouldn't be caught dead seeking their autographs like some others around here.
Dreaming? My facts were correct about the Ashes squad, that you decided to discuss players not in the Ashes squad hardly constitutes what you claim.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
That part was obvious, but then I usually know more than Wikipedia, but you should read what you cut n paste first, just so not to look foolish. In fact you are questioning Wikipedia not me and with regard to what I posted
It can hardly be called recognising them if you don't know who they are.......555555555, I mean you thought they were mostly Pacific Islanders and they are not.....one of them is even an Aussie called Strauss who received caps for the Bokke before becoming an Australian.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
Now I don't give a hoot about who plays for the Wallabies.... they all won caps and wore the Canary yellow with pride, good enough for me, it's not my country.
Was your childhood so tough, mine was fun, autograph collecting was a part of it. Not sure the relevance here though.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
Yep, there have been a few, some with Welsh parents and some who qualified on residency.I am sure Welsh teams have used English players in the past.
Name any you see fit to name and I'll diiscuss their individual merits of selection because all cases are different as with the All Blacks and their selections.
Plenty of Welsh lads played for England as well, Neil Bennett, Huw Davies, Dewi Morris and Josh Lewsey for example.
