King, Mackey, Neff, M.Seavey and Gatt are all into Ruby. Gatt had the fastest time by 30 min, but he's still 3.5hrs behind.
Ruby is on the Yukon River, population 187, and mile 467.
For being the first musher in, King wins this dinner (cooked over a camp stove) and $5,000.

According to the GPS tracking map, Jamaican Marshall is in Ophir (mile 322) and DeeDee Jonrowe is about 10 miles north of Cripple (410 miles). I love the vid of her with about 10lbs of make-up on as a reporter is trying to interview her while she eats a reindeer hotdog with a totally F you attitude. 55555555555 Go DeeDee!
Current number of dogs: King, 15; Mackey, 13; Gatt, 12; DeeDee, 10; Marshall, 14.
Is there some sort of annual prize for the most boring thread on TD?
If there is I have a strong candidate to nominate...
Oh yeah, sure that's what they told them it was anyway.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

Today's update: Jeff King is in the lead with 13 dogs left and is nearing Kaltag (about 599 miles) with Mackey hot on his heels about 5 m behind with 12 dogs.
Neff, M Seavey and Gatt are all close behind; a few are taking a rest stop at Nulato. The top mushers are running 12-14 dogs.
A good portion of the rest of the pack have left Galeno. DeeDee is resting in Galeno and went in with 8 dogs ; Marshall the Jamaican is taking his 8 in Cripple. He went in with 14 dogs.
Almost all have completed their mandatory 24 and 8 (at locations of their choosing), with another 8 for everybody at White Mountain.
Mackey took a 7 minute break around noon in Kaltag and is on the way to Unalakleet. He's at about 627 and the town is at 675. Travelling at about 6.5 mph. Brutal winds and possible storms. Here's a snap of Mitch Seavey on the Yukon River.
Some great pics from the race on this site. Cannae download, sorry.

Mebbe the Euros would be more interested with a Brit video production. Face it, Slack, this is the best sport and race ever, and beats the pants off those nancy matches of little boys running back and forth kicking a poofta ball on a soccer pitch.
That Mackey guy looks like an extra from Deliverance, although I probably wouldn't tell him it to his face!
Still better than those homo-erotic displays of ball twirling that Americans call football..Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

Nothing except Iditarod beats NFL action. I know, American football rules are too difficult for you soccer fans to understand. Ya, stick to your soccer. Simple games for simple minds.

Maybe I haven't paid attention, but what kind of dos are they racing ?
I take it that it isn't Malamute anymore, but some Husky mix.
BTW; Never seen a sledgedog with a coat before
^ Many use X breeds now as I know. Whatever runs fastest. I'll double check with a musher. Pls see the article I posted above about Iditarod canine fashion. The dogs they use now have shorter coats so that could also be a factor.
Mackey and King are nearing Norton Bay. King turned off his GPS tracking apparently -- he's trying to do a sneaky on Mackey, who's in the lead.
Mackey left Safety at 11:41 AKT this morning. It's 12:32pm there now, so a couple of hours...

So now you have to sign up ?
^ Yep, you had to start paying from Sunday or so.
Mackey won. I'm happy.
Mushers are getting their new pups. I had to keep this thread alive, especially since the Habs lost in hockey. Fekin Quebecois. Can never count on 'em.
Oh, one more... 555555555555555
Thanks for the info. Next to curling dog sledding is my favorite sport. And Bingo's cool too.
