Great partnership between Rohit and Jinxy and if Eng bat on day two of this pitch it looks like it could be a nightmare. Ashwin is going to love this, i reckon he'll get 10+ wickets this match.

Well that was weird. Jinxy should have been given caught having gloved it but the ump missed it and didn't roll forward the footage, out bowled the next over ...luckily. Eng lose a review which is wrong.

Huge innings from Rohit, one that could level the series...

    300-6

Yep- they'll be more than happy with that.

Strauss just described the strip as 'like a day four pitch'.

India have to bat again, at least that's something to take from the game...

    Joke of a pitch.

    It happens in India.

Just get this over and move on.

But they have to win the toss for the plan to work.

I agree with Cyrille. Its supposed to be a test match, a balance of bat and ball - this is just a binary game of the coin toss. Still England will get practice and players will learn valuable lessons so its not a wasted game, they can still take away some positives if they do well in the second innings with both bat and ball.

I don't think it was a plan. This was a shit wicket from the start, they are used to it, we're not.

It didn't change that much in <2 days.

Jaysus, if the wicket is so crap, India should not score highly on it in their second innings... 1/54 says that your first innings was more than just a rubbish wicket.

It was definitely a worse wicket than the first test, from what I saw on commentary.

And India are obviously handling it better than England.

So it's nailed on they will be turning off the sprinklers for the remaining games.

Foakes has been brilliant. He was so unlucky to be dropped after a terrific performance on tour in Sri Lanka a few years ago.

Should be England's keeper permanently, with Buttler in as a batsman. Give the job to the best man at the job in the world, never mind just England.

Incidentally, India's first innings total was the highest ever scored in the history of test cricket with zero extras. On this surface that is quite remarkable.

    210/8 lead of 405.

Should be able to knock that off easy.

Well, Root was caught plum in front lbw there, but the umpire gave it not out.

On review it was 'umpire's call'.

An animated discussion between Kohli and the umpire followed.

Anyway, just a postponement of the inevitable.

Jimmy will be returning at Ahmedabad presumably - Broad hasn't really done much.
