Why did everyone go quiet? Did England turn it around?

NZ 303/2...they don't appear to have turned it around yet.

Black Caps plan to pile on the pain says Martin Guptill | Stuff.co.nz
New Zealand's Martin Guptill says the plan for the Black Caps is to bat just once in the test against England at Lord's after the team ended day two in a commanding position.

In reply to England's first innings score of 389, New Zealand were 303-2 at stumps on the second day, with the English bowlers having a frustrating day.

Guptill, who scored 70 runs before becoming a victim of Stuart Broad's bowling (and a Gary Ballance catch), said the plan for the remainder of the test is to keep piling on the runs and then bowl England out again, without the need for the Black Caps to get padded up once more.

So the NZ batsmen have a cunning plan...score more runs.

Where would we be without incisive kiwi analysis.

It probably needed a disaster for Cook to go. My guess is they'll muddle through this and we'll be stuck with him.

Martin Guptill also added some important information regarding the New Zealand All Blacks upcoming Rugby World Cup campaign...

"They are going to go out with the aim of scoring more points than their opposition" the batsman said "Should they fall behind at any stage they will do their best to get in front"

This is going to be an interesting test...the Kiwis are going to have to get wickets today because they will be batting last on a real turner.

Sadly for England, Moeen Ali is no Graham Swann.

But yes, the feeling has certainly been that opting to bat last on this strip was taking a big gamble.

McCullum is a gambler...and he got the early wickets...but it is taking turn already so there might be some action today

Interesting video of Cook here. The creator of this movie has focused on the fact that Cook's face is actually his arse - quite alarming really ..

150 not out deserves my applause and he scored the runs against a good bowling attack.

I hope he continues this type of form.

Very generous comment.... shame Wally couldn't show any grace.....

The team a long way behind, one batsman flowing, captain and openers job? Hold an end and accumulate through the day....... job done I'd say.....

Nah....says the Bogun.... Cook's farrkin borrrring......

Top stuff Wally....livin up to your name.....

That might indicate bad bowling...some have suggested they were underdone from the IPL...and there might be some truth in that...it may also indicate a placid pitch...we will know in a couple of hours...I just cannot see McCullum playing for a draw if there is any sort of declaration.

England would be very silly to give this New Zealand team a declaration that gives them a chance to win.

England's best chance to win is to actually be bowled out.
