That first inning lead could prove crucial.

Johnson ended the first innings with 8/61 off 24 overs. Very impressive economy rate of 2.54.

Looks like the wicket in Perth is a nightmare.

Anyone know if it is a typical fast green top?

Looks like Clarke and Symonds are steering the ship at the moment.

Pointings probably aiming for a 350 target for the Yarpy's to chase.

^ All the reports are that it is a very flat track. Should be a batsman's dream but the scores belie that.

Heaps of time left so hopefully the aussies can settle in for a while. From what I can see the track looks pretty good. Lacking its bounce of years gone by but still has a little bit in it.

Kallis to Lee, OUT, what a catch!!! an absolute stunner. short of a good length outside off, Lee gets on the back foot to guide that past point, gets the outside edge and de Villiers dives full length to his left at second slip to pluck it out of thin air with both hands. Australia seven down now.

Very unlucky his career was at the same time as Gilly's mate.

Great bat and good keeper but quite long in the tooth now.

Regarding comparing him with Gilchrist nobody was like Gilly and when he was on fire and one of the only wicket keepers who had a rating of the best batsman in the world.

Great test average for a wicket keeper g2bh but it was in the one day game that he really made his mark.

Actually I think it was Gilly who really changed the way one day games were played and when they elevated him to opener.

Bloody awesome and I would have hated to bowl too him when he was on fire.

One of the few cricketers that would walk before given out by the umpire as well.
