Smith bowled, makes Stokes stroke even more poor. 400 lead looking a long way off.
Root 55 runs behind Lara on the most test runs table, got to think he'll get there in this series and will be targeting 6th place kumar Sangakkars on 12,400 in the Sri Lanka series starting in Sept.
Cookie on commentary yesterday said his place as top Eng run scorer will go next year
WIndies showing waay more resilience than they did at Lord's.
Good for them.
:smilie_clap:
Did I hear right that England have never scored 400 in both innings of a test match?
So are we headed towards a bore draw?
England set WI target of 385. I reckon it's doable, although Trent Bridge record is quite low.
Maybe some cloudy conditions to help the seamers tomorrow.
Well that's torn it, Windies cruising along to the drinks break 62 for 0. Then a wicket in each of the next 4 overs. Shame for them really.
Make it 5, 82 for 5. Bashir 3 wickets for 8 runs. Could be over tonight.
Well, that's quite a turnaround. WI were cruising for the first 10 overs or so.
What a difference a wicket (or 5) makes!
That ended quickly.
A real shame for the windies. They need to play more.
For Eng Smith was quality behind the stumps and Bashir with another 5 wicket haul at 20 having only played 10 first class matches.
The young inexperienced spinner needs a good batting coach. Teach him how to defend and hold his end up. He is unlikely to find things so easy when he faces anyone other than the feeble WI batsmen.
The most successful off spinner in Aus since the war is Allan Border, so Bashir may not figure prominently there.
So, the hundred is going to become just another T20 competition.
But they’re going to carry on calling it the hundred.
What a joke.
Hopefully WIndies can offer a bit more on Friday.
Ticket holders for Sunday onwards might be holding their breath.
Bugger. 😁
115/5 and they were looking good.
I kind of felt before lunch that bowling at the wickets might be an idea.
Especially for Mark Wood. :D
Tame...
One might surmise that England have taken their foot off the gas somewhat.
