Good counter attack from India, after being 74 for 4, it's now 154 for 4 at tea.

England still on top but not quite the walk over it could have been.

Yep, partnership is 94 from 100 balls.

    Can't argue with that.

Close game going on in the Bang v Windies match; 20 overs left for the Windies to get 82 runs with 5 wickets left.

Unlucky for Pujara and a very odd dismissal, lucky for Eng as that partnership was looking dangerous. Sort of into the lower order now

38 off 12 required and Meyers could get a double ton on debut, would be a great result in the first test for a very young and inexperienced Windies side.

Another c120-130 needed and 4-5 sessions to try to bowl India out. A long way to go.

Yeah - would be rather nice to get Pujara and Virat cheaply.

    Not an easy task.

Eng effectively 342 for 5, Buttler in just needs to clatter it. Difficult to know if 400 is enough

353 the lead. India could get that. Be interesting to see what Root considers safe.

Yep there Buttler goes. Another no-ball and just makes you wonder how many India have gotten away with before the third umpire checks, 25 by India so far and 9 from spinners which is ridiculous

With that last one he was almost a foot over the line.

How can a spinner do that?

I have no idea what Root is playing at with either the slow batting in their 2nd innings or the lack of urgency in turning the overs around in their bowling spell - he's got to bowl them out in 90 overs tomorrow.

I can't think of any reason why Leach and Archer were left batting out there.

Well, I can think of one.

The fear that declaring and then losing the game would result in criticism.

    In other words, cowardice.

Cooke is defending it now but I find it completely unconvincing - he's ducking the real question as suggested by my first sentence.

Its rare to get into this situation in India and Root seems to be bottling it. Inexplicable.

Makes me wince watching Archer soften up Ashwin with some 90 mph chin music but he's still there. 6 down now.

Alternatively he wanted to put pressure on India.

And it seems to be working.

One of the bails just fell off? Weird.

I am not watching live. How can a bail simply fall off?

    A magnificent performance.

Maybe this WTC is not out of reach after all.
