Cummin's name has been put out there, but I just dont think a pace bowler can also captain.

    That's a very good question.

Notice you lot are less concerned about where players were born these days.

Ponting is, I must admit, very good in the commentary box. Frequently has something perceptive to say.

This clip is from a BBL game a couple of nights back, I felt sick at the impact Marcus Stoinus must have felt as he went down like a dropped pie, but he was quick to his feet and to let everyone know he was ok. This will be the clip shown to kids throughout the cricket world outlining why helmets are an absolute must.

    Agree with all of that.

I really disliked Clarke ... stuck me as a Privately Educated Hi-So

Also I really prefer the Ch7 Commentary Team and approach over that of Ch9 (post Richie Benaud)

Ponting's dream team of the last decade. Can't say I agree with a few of his choices.

RICKY PONTING’S TEST TEAM OF THE DECADE:

    David Warner — AUS (7099 runs @ 48.21)
    Alastair Cook — ENG (8818 runs @ 46.41)
    Kane Williamson — NZL (6379 runs @ 51.44)
    Steve Smith — AUS (7164 runs @ 62.84)
    Virat Kohli (c) — IND (7202 runs @ 54.97)
    Kumar Sangakkara (wk) — SL (4851 runs @ 61.40)
    Ben Stokes — ENG (3787 runs @ 35.72, 139 wickets @ 33.13)
    Dale Steyn — RSA (267 wickets @ 22.29)
    Nathan Lyon — AUS (380 wickets @ 32.11)
    Stuart Broad — ENG (403 wickets @ 27.65)
    James Anderson — ENG (429 wickets @ 24.35)

Well I suppose it would depend where they were playing.

You probably wouldn't want Warner touring England.

He'd be glad not to be facing Broad.

And you wouldn't want Anderson touring Australia - Broad bowls best at home too.

Home comforts. Like most bowlers, Anderson has a better record at home than away. He has taken 368 of his 564 wickets in England with a bowling average - the number of runs conceded per wicket taken - of 24.35. Overseas his average climbs to 32.63.
Pretty sure his average is closer to 35 in Australia.

I often agree with Wally, but on the subject of Anderson, I have to digress.

For some reason unknown ... I really like Anderson. It's maybe respect.

Sitting with the Barmy Army in an Ashes test recently ... they adore him also.

Unless the equivalent of 'sandpaper gate' emerges, I will continue to support him.

Oh Jimmy, Jimmy ... Jimmy Jimmy Anderson

Anderson has made it to the top without connections, just on his talent and his hard work.

No dad who used to play for England, private schooling etc (with no disrespect to Stuart Broad).

This is common in other countries, but it's somewhat less common in England.

Yeh KW ... but it's the delay which is annoying.

I love driving somewhere or working around the joint/shed and having the Cricket on the radio.

    ---

The Sydney PINK day night Test is on today.

    Quite a few unknowns.

The massive bushfires engulfing NSW / ACT / VIC and the smoke haze from that.

Cricket and Bushfire commentary ... https://tinyurl.com/ru2uwab

    Three KIWIS are sick.

Will Australia include a second spinner?

For smoke haze, today shouldn't be to bad, but the catastrophic ... and we don't use that word frivolously ... day will be Saturday.

It's amazing how many different duos that Australia has had opening the bowling as England have had Broad and Anderson doing the job for them. It feels like they have been there for at least 15 years or so. I'd being lying if I said I didn't have a lot of respect for both of them.

Just don't tell cyrille I said that .

about time Stoke got out, he's in the 30's, i wonder what the record is for most 30 scores in an inning? Dave?

Marnus gets his double ton. This guy just does not look like getting out and has taken the focus away from Smith as our best batsmen. 3 centuries and one double century in 5 tests - he is scoring more test runs than anybody in the world. Australia 5-409.

Besides Wagner, there is some pretty ordinary bowling from the kiwis. It's hard to understand why NZ decided to rest Southee after taking 12 wickets in the first 2 tests. It's almost like they had given up on winning this test and began to focus on their next series against India.

Paine just got bowled for 35. 6-410

I can’t believe Ponting has Stokes in his team of the decade. No doubt, he has played a few match winning performances but with batting and bowling averages in their 30’s does he warrant selection ?

Marnus Labuschagne scores a double Century.

    Australia ALL OUT for 454

    ---

I have a new Favorite Cricketer.

Yep Marnus Labuschagne is a game changer, but my first pick in any side is now NZ's Neil Wagner.

Neil Wagner is a South African-born New Zealand Test cricketer who plays for New Zealand

Man of the series for me.

^Lionhearted is the word that has been used by just about anybody who has been talking about him this series.

The guy just LOVES bowling and will bowl all day if you give him the ball.

He is not as tall as most fast bowlers but is accurate and skids it off the ground nicely.

He has both Warner and Smith 4 or 5? times this series, so he has not only taken wickets, he has taken the most important wickets.

Either Wagner or Manus for man of the series, for sure!
