^At the break England are 1.58 favourites, which means if you put $100 on them you'd.....

    It's coming home

How the Aussies reported it ...

    ---

Australia crushes England at Lord's by 64 runs to send Cricket World Cup statement

Australia has booked its ticket to the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup with an impressive 64-run win over England at Lord's.

With a result and performance that will have sent a serious statement, both to the rest of the world at this tournament and to England ahead of the Ashes, Australia's fast bowlers and a fine Aaron Finch century combined to comprehensively outplay the much-fancied English at the home of cricket.

Finch scored exactly 100 to set the game up for Australia, and though it may have been a little disappointed to only reach 7-285 from its 50 overs, the score proved to be enough as the travelling team went to work with the ball.

It took only two balls for Australia to strike, with Jason Behrendorff — reinstated to the team and handed the brand new rock — producing a near unplayable delivery that ripped through James Vince and clean bowled him for a duck.

The wicket of Joe Root gave Australia real hope of defending the target.

How the English reported it ...

    ---

England lose to Australia in Cricket World Cup at Lord's

England's World Cup hopes hang in the balance after a demoralising defeat by Australia at Lord's.
The 64-run loss means they might need to win their last two games, beginning with India at Edgbaston on Sunday, in order to make the last four.

Much will depend on the results of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, who can all overhaul Eoin Morgan's men.
The hosts began the tournament as favourites, but now have little margin for error, with this loss following Friday's shock reverse to Sri Lanka to make a total of three defeats in seven games.

They actually did well to restrict Australia to 285-7, especially after captain Aaron Finch's century helped his team to 173-1.
However, that target was always going to be a challenge against the dangerous Australia attack in conditions ideally suited to pace bowling.

So it proved. The heart was ripped out of England's top order and, at 53-4, their chase was in tatters.
Just as he did against Sri Lanka, Ben Stokes played a virtually lone hand for 89, but after he was bowled by a searing Mitchell Starc yorker, England subsided to 221 all out.

Now they face the prospect of having to beat at least one, maybe both, of India and New Zealand - two unbeaten sides and, in the case of India, the best team in the tournament.

ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, Lord's, London
    Australia 285-7 (50 overs): Finch 100, Warner 53, Woakes 2-46
    England 221 all out (44.4 overs): Stokes 89, Bairstow 27, Behrendorff 5-44
    Australia won by 64 runs
    Scorecard; Table; Schedule

A meeting between cricket's oldest rivals, on its grandest stage and with the World Cup jeopardy feeling very real, all contributed to a supercharged atmosphere.

Indeed, almost a month after it started, this felt like the day the tournament really began.

For England, overcome by the tension of it all, it may be one step closer to the end.

Fair dues, the Aussie bowlers were terrific. Thankfully, only Ben Stokes saved England from a total drubbing, tbh.

The KIWI's play Pakistan this arvo. The Pakis who need to win this match as well as their last two against winless Afghanistan and the Bangladeshis to at least remain in semi-final contention.

    Pakistan to win tonight?

Well the Kiwis have been in pretty good form and the washed-out match aside haven't been toppled at all and beaten everyone in front of them so it would be safe to say that they are the odds on heavy favorites...

...which given that it's the Black Craps means Pakistan will likely win at a canter.

^ They (the KIWI's) are $6+ to lift the trophy ... generous odds, they are way better then that.

Get on them like a car bonnet

Slight rain delay, but still a 50 over game.

NZ won the toss and batting.

Dill, you are a convert!. The good thing with Cricket is it give you a legit reason to stay watching for 6-8 hours, or 4-5 days for 8 hours during a Test Match.

Yep i am enjoying this. Dunno if i could stomach 5 days. I went and watched a 20-20 match at Edgbaston years ago.Seemed rather Americanised with all the music and people waving huge sponge hands with the pointed finger.

You should try the Chiang Mai sixes Dilly. Excellent bar and it's only 5 overs an innings.
