Vaughn said on Tuffers and Vaughn that Eng need to win 2 out of the 3 against Aus/Ind & NZ given Sri Lanka have games against WI & Afghan who are knocked out and India who may play tactically given they could meet in the Semi's - adds a bit more interest to the SL games.

And England has won the toss! Eoin Morgan has chosen to bowl first!

Big test coming up for Australia's top order.

Jofra Archer has been cleared to play after a brief injury scare this morning.

    ---

    THE GOAT IS BACK!

Nathan Lyon (finally) has been brought into the side for the first time this tournament.

Jason Behrendorff is also in, with Adam Zampa and Nathan Coulter-Nile out.

    SHIT!

And yeah, Zampa ahead of Lyon has been a bit of a surprise.

First time I've seen Jofra Archer bowl ... damm he's good.

    Was he born in England?

It's always striking how when you talk about first, second, third generation though....they go a bit quiet.

But yeah, OK....native Australians with blonde or ginger hair.

    And Usmain Khawaja?

FFS...how fucking thick would an Aussie have to be to pursue this for 50+ fucking years.

    Answer: As thick as Dave

^^ thanks HW ... glad you picked up on that.

^ cryille, here we are, sat in the Pub, Poms and Aussies having a 'larf and and views on the game.

There, in the corner is cryille, he cuts a lonely figure, just with his warm pint for comfort.
but he looks comfortable with his lot ... like he's been like that all his life.

    By your 'logic'...

You've stolen 95% of your team from the UK.

    The other 5% from India.

The last even remotely true Australian who played cricket for you was Jason Gillespie.

And how delicious his pies were every time he came to visit.

But OK...you're a moron with mates.

    Nice you find that comforting.

It seems to be an adequate substitute for a sensible argument for you.

    So that's nice.

^ I'm not here for an argument. I'd prefer to sit with Mates and debate and discuss
the intricacies and nuances of the fine game which is Cricket.

If you want to argue, it's easy to ignore you.

If you want to banter ... great, up to you.

^ Hang in there Harry, a few quick wickets and it will even up the game.

Remember, you can't judge a pitch until both sides have had an innings on it.

    ---

    Convicts are 0 - 100 off 17 overs @ a strike rate of 5.56

To be fair, in the 50/50 stuff ... umpire calls, catches to fingertips etc, the Aussies have had the rub of the green.

    Currently on target for 320 - 340.

Importantly, they've seen off the quicks, the spinners aren't turning on the seeming wicket.
Plus the bounce seems even, so the tweekers can't rely on that.

Because of the consistent bounce, anything short is punished, but the ball is moving about either side of the line.

    Warner is 50 of 52
    Finch is 53 off 54

Convicts started very well, and are on for a great score; haven't lost a wicket yet and well over 100...

Why the fuck do we think we can still chase a total when given the choice?

More bounce than expected does for Warner.

Not the first time that bounce for the spinners has been a factor in this World Cup.

Lyon is good at capitalising on it.

Well you can't if it's likely to stay the same throughout the game, but England bowled for a reason and that reason didn't work for them.

Warner out ... a promising innings ends on 53, and England finally strikes.

Last time I was at Lords was Aus V Pak test.

19 wickets fell in the day.

    TEST cricket.

Very sloppy from England so far.

    Now a missed stumping.
