Seems like I've hit a nerve with you Bob . Even going back to edit and add more unpleasantries - nice to see you being humble in victory Bob
Tut tut Wally...... Firstly I wrote the post at the end of Day four so I wasn't being anything in victory as there was no victory at that time.....

Secondly the edit was to change mature to genrous in my description of LT's comment.

Any nastiness against you was delivered up front........

As for the game, I had no way of watching so I went to bed when they were 5 down so nice to wake up and see that they had won.

Classic test match, record number of runs in a Lords Test, record number of scores of 50 and over and yet the bowlers were able to get something going on the last day when a draw seems the more likely result.

One victory is a good start to the summer, nothing more, but sport is always a confidence game, let's hope that it kick starts a good summer where we can be competitive in an Ashes series as we have been over the last ten years (last series excepted).

Looking forward to seeing Mitchell Johnson bowl at Lords, in the past he's been rather fragile there.......

Yes indeed...however the rule of thumb of the Aussies is if you win the toss bat first 99% of the time...the other one percent think about it...and then bat first...McCullum got it wrong at Lords...has Cook got it wrong here?

Worthy of note...but choosing to bowl first is not the best option at Headingley...unless you can dismiss the other side cheaply...and 350 ain't that cheap

All square, England one wicket remaining, decent knock from Broad.

    Go Kiwis!

The pressure is on in the 2nd innings. Let's see which one of the pommy batsmen can bat under pressure and save the day for Engerland. It's times like these KP would come in real handy you know

At Headlingley??? How many runs the Kiwi tailenders can post is going to be interesting...they might make 340 or 430

Pitch hasn't deteriorated much. What a terrific series this has been already. Kiwis look big favourites, but with the fascinating twists and turns we've seen so far...

KP's average in his last ten tests was 32.

Doesn't matter what they score now though, does it?

Surprised they haven't declared yet, we aren't going to get that in a day.

Added: Bloody hell for some reason I thought it was Tuesday today!

That makes things a bit harder.

Yes cricket was invented in the most dreadful, dreary, wet and horrible shit hole of the world to play a dry weather game and people still say it is a shame.

What does one expect from mother nature when she has stuck dreary people there to enjoy their day in such a place?

England have been relying on Broad & Anderson to produce the goods for a long time now - they are both past their best and there doesn't seem to be anybody knocking the door down for that 3rd seamer spot - let alone to replace any of them.... we on the other hand have a bunch of quicks who are not even in our starting 11 who would walk into your side..

It'd be a dream finish for the kiwis if they can get those 10 wickets.

Then you have no excuses for not beating us to a pulp this summer.

Should we even bother turning up?

Be interesting to see what effect the rain / weather will have on the batting conditions for England. It wasn't beyond belief that they could bat this out based on the third innings, however I suspect today it will turn out to be too big a task. Kiwis to level the series an hour after tea.
