7-40 on this pitch is a superb effort.
The blame has to lie with the top order particularly Root and Pietersen. They gave their wickets away, what came after was the result of applied pressure and a great spell of quick blowling.
I'd bat the rest of the day now and give Johnson some time to put his feet up.
Oh and I must say the new Adelaide Oval is still one of the great grounds.... maybe for different reasons but the development is tasteful. I see the Northern (I think) End is listed and cannot be developed.

Alex Doolan is the biggest candidate I think. Jordan Silk is only 22 and has been scoring big runs against bowlers such as Ryan Harris. Nic Maddinson is 21 years old and looks good.Quote:

I would say, and this is not a whinge, even though I like the new Aussie manager and what he has done for this average team, I feel the aggression is to the detriment of the gentlemanly nature of the game. This is down to both sides to a certain degree. It's also indicative of international sport and the modern world. But, the Aussies are the better team here (have been for both matches), it'd be nicer to see them winning while maintaining some class because cricket is/was/should be better than football, it is/was/should be distanced from a consumer, greed at all cost, society.
I hardly watch PL football anymore because it just doesn't embody the spirit and social values that I grew up with while watching the mighty Ipswich Town during the 1970s and 1980s. I hope cricket doesn't go that way; this series has been very disappointing in that respect. Winning is important, but for cricket, I'd like to think that the way the game is played is more important than winning alone. This applies to both teams, and both teams have rather let down the cricket ethos that sets the game above the PL and many other games/sports.
