Or was your bowler injured ?
It'll be forever glued to your name

other shit bloke stuff..
Ball Tampering is unaccepted in Cricket. The players try to change the condition of ball by mostly removing the stitches on the ball by finger nails or rubbing the ball on the ground by boot spikes. This incident has come down due to wide television coverage. Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis was the first player to get punishment as suspension for ball tampering in the year 2000. The other incident was by England bowlers Stuart Broad and James Anderson and was accused of ball tampering in the year 2010. The cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was banned for ball tampering charges and he was banned for one test match by march referee. - See more at: Top 5 Cricket Controversies

A stat that surprised me and doesn't mean a huge amount but none the less.....
During Australia's 16 year dominance (not 20 or even 30 as someone at work tried to claim the other day....5555) England actually won 7 test matches against them..... (Australia won 28 with 8 drawn).
Sounds like the best part of two decades to me!
Jeez Wally, you rely on information provided by a bloke who cannot even construct a simple sentence, though to someone brought up through the Australian education system that probably reads quite well.Originally Posted by Wally Dorian Raffles

That said, Broad is an Ashes winning hero shit bloke so anything could have happened. He really is Warnesque in the flirtations with controversy isn't he?No charges were formally placed by South Africa
Bit closer to a decade and a half I'd say, and well deserved, they were a magnificent side....
Hayden and McGrath being the two players I admire most from the team, but it was full of great talent, certainly a wider that once a generation team' more like once a century.
Of course Warne's a shit bloke, he's a drug cheat, a match fixer, and a seriel adulterer all of them trump ball tampering (known as the Pakistani disease) and not walking (known as the Australian disease).

He stupidly gave information on the condition of the pitch to some Indian who called him at his hotel room. Very unfair to call him a match fixer Bob.
As for being a 'drug cheat' as Willy has mentioned , Warne is very vain and wanted to lose weight. Perhaps he got sick of the "you ate all the pies" sledges from the poms. I any case, IF he did take the drugs to help him heal from an injurie faster ( which is what he was charged for) , it's not like he was taking performance inhancing drugs like the 2 Pakistan bowlers were caught for - and let off by the PCB. CA came down hard on Warne and banned him for 6 months - though we still went on to win the World Cup without him.
Re: Brealey - I think he played during the same time I was more interested in surfing and girls - perhaps that's why I don't remember him so well - though his name does ring a bell
Yes, I think it's fair to say that 99.9% of Australians were disgusted in Chappell for that. I remember my dad fuming that he would do such a thing. WTF was he thinking???? They needed a 6 just to draw the match!!!
It almost started a war with New Zealand - and they have never forgiven it for us. Infact, I have met some kiwis in recent years that have said they 'hate' Australians - and this is the first reason brought up. Methinks its it's more down to an inferiority complex.
I heard an interesting stat recently. Apparently NZ has the highest rate of mental illness per capita in the world. 75% of kiwi males suffer from some form of mental illness. I wonder if they go to bed at night and scream out during the night with images of the Chappell brothers. Mind you, Ian was strongly against the decision to bowl underarm , and made his feeling clearly known on the field at the time. Along with most of the team.
You don't hear a great deal from Gregg Chappell these days - as Aussies never really forgave him for it either. And Trevor may be dead for all I know as he has not been heard of for decades.
But yep - the most disgraceful incident cricket has seen - even though it was legal at the time.
Mind you, the frequent spot fixing and match fixing incidents with sub- continent teams seems to be getting worse instead of better - these Indian book makers play with a lot more money in each match than some of the players will see in a lifetime. Although it was never proven, I still think Pakistan threw an entire test match in Sydney 2008. Anybody who watched the game would feel the same. As usual, the toothless ICC cleared the match of corruption and no charges were laid. I was infuriated when this happened.
I agree, it's the same with the Australians and the Poms....Originally Posted by Wally Dorian Raffles

Nonsense, Ian Chappell was not playing.Originally Posted by Wally Dorian Raffles
That's the official version who knows the truth??? Remember CA kept the whole thing hushed up without penalty for some time, who knows the real extent of the deal. They only punished them when the rest of the cricketing world found out.... that is possibly the most shocking part of it. To claim the Indian 'just phoned him' is ridiculous after all they both admitted receiving money, rather difficult to do if a guy 'just phoned'.....Originally Posted by Wally Dorian Raffles

Bad decision that soon came home to roost. In the end he was banned from the dressing room.Once a wanker, always a wanker."He drove us all mad," one player said.

Pretty sure he gets his vegetarian meals spat in by most chefs in India too. He made many enemies during his time there, and is widely disliked there too.
Besides the jobs he has landed - he is rarely seen in the media. He is basically not a very liked person - though respected for his cricketing skills on the field.

You are right. He was commentating though and was not happy about it.
As the ball was being bowled, Ian Chappell (older brother of Greg and Trevor, and a former Australian captain), who was commentating on the match, was heard to call out "No, Greg, no, you can't do that" in an instinctive reaction to the incident, and he remained critical in a later newspaper article on the incident.
These Indian bookies are very crafty Bob. You are right - we will prolly never know the whole truth. But my money is on Warne was stupid rather than purposely doing what guys like you may think he is guiltily of - and the bookie played Warne better than any poker hand he has ever played.
As for Barbie - there is no don't be gets special treatment from his daddy , and if he was mixed up in something similar , it would be swept so deep under the carpet it would never leave the room of red nosed cherrie sippers in the red carpet rooms at Lords.

Awww ....c'mon LT - it's just healthy in-between match banter.
Yep . You are right mate.England have just been too good but not as good as they thought they were which gives us a real chance at the end of this year and back home to regain the ashes.
But until then, can't we enjoy a bit of old fashioned shit stirring?
