    Ireland v England 2024/25

First competitive match between them in 32 years, and some simple points for Ireland. 11pm Thai time tomorrow.

3 nil.... or 4 nil to the Irish?

Let's not forget the friendly since then... Ireland winning 1 nil and dancing around them when it had to be cancelled after 26 minutes due to the English rioting.

    The last 2 competitive meetings.

    Ireland wins: 1
    Draw: 1
    England wins: 0

    5 nil to the Irish?

    24/25?

    They're playing all year?

Was the trophy the Mick McCarthy Cup or something?

Apart from during the potato harvest.

And please don't denigrate the Irish, in 2011 they won the 'international' inaugral Nations Cup, whatever that might be.

I did some considerable research to identify their last international finals qualification, and apparently after losing, their manager (Seamus someone or other) complained that the pitch was shorter than they were used to and didn't meet international standards.

And he also said, 'and look how bladdy wide it is'!

Aside from friendly tournaments, you also happen to be utterly fucking shite at football.

That's why we've sent Lee Carsley over.

    :-)

Ireland: Current holders of an international trophy.

England: Haven't won an international trophy in around 8000 years.

Didn't Southampton win the Draper cup in July 1987 when Auxerre were invited?

Declan Rice being called up for England, the day after he was named Ireland's young player of the year though...how we laughed.

And Mao is obviously forgetting England's glorious victory in lifting Le Tournoi de France in 1997.

Grealish won the U21 Player of the Year award before he realised he was better off in England.

I hope they both belt out the national anthem with gusto

    Matters not a jot.

The likes of Grealish, Rice and Bellingham wouldn't make the Irish senior team's bench, never mind the first 11. :-)

Fair play to O'Grealish for toning down his goal celebration
