Qatar's World Cup security chief warns rainbow flags may be confiscated

    The World Cup 2022-screenshot-2022-04-02-14-54-a

Rainbow flags could be taken from fans at the World Cup in Qatar to protect them from being attacked for promoting gay rights, according to a senior official overseeing security for the tournament.

    Key points:
    • The security chief said: "You cannot change the religion for 28 days of World Cup"
    • Anti-discrimination campaigners condemned the warning as "deeply concerning"
    • FIFA previously stated rainbow flags would be allowed in stadiums

Major General Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ansari said LGBTQ couples would be welcomed and accepted in Qatar for the November 21- December 18 FIFA showpiece despite same-sex relations remaining criminalised in the conservative Gulf nation.

But he warned against the overt promotion of LGBTQ freedoms as symbolised by the rainbow flag that FIFA and World Cup organisers had previously said would be welcome across Qatar's eight stadiums.

Group D France will stroll through with Denmark ambling along
Group Fark sees Spain and Germany passing through . . . tough one to win.
Group G isn't too much trouble for Belgium now that Croatia only as old men playing
Group H is the most interesting with every team being able to beat the others

HW ... your image is clearly wrong as it has England, the home of Soccer only having made the Finals once, way, way back in the last century.

    Surely that can't be correct!

Most fans to be beheaded for thuggery and poovery.

I wonder how many Filipinas will be making their way to the world cup... to visit their Grannies.

    Yes.

But more pertinently, I don't think you have much idea of how life is for most Filipinos.

Well, I Socialise with Filipino friends, I have many friends with Filipino wives, I work with Filipinos and I have visited PI many times. I am also part of a private network that is spread all over The PI.

So I think it's safe to say that I do.

However, this is not about my knowledge of such things, this is about you being butthurt.

I don't think you think much at all to be honest, and you certainly don't know any more about me than I have chose to share, be that on here or publicly.

The reason for my comment was that when I worked in Qatar for a lengthy period, the bars and clubs were full of Filipinas looking for business, and they were, for the most part, overaged, haggard, desperate looking sorts that looked like they had had it hard in a difficult country for such a profession. I felt sorry for them.

The World Cup, no doubt, will bring with it a market for such services, and where there's money to be made...

...Can't see many Russians making it....
    Lang may yer lum reek...

Need to see who's playing England each game before disclosing that private and personal information.

USA and Iran will be praying that Scotland don’t make it into the group, cos if they do it will massively affect their shirt sales in Scotland.

I think Wales still want their revenge for Joe Jordan's subterfuge in 1977.
