While I wish the young man a full recovery, the amount of air time major international media is giving this story is far more than is warranted. Tone it down and move on to stories more relevant to the world in general.
I agree Norts. Terribly odd event for sure, like those few college basketball players who had heart attacks and collapsed during a game. While sad, It surely doesn't need the media hype its getting. I suspect it is happening because it was a MNF game with millions of viewers. While only guessing here, I suspect they will run a battery of tests as the days go on and they will find that he had a pre heart condition. It would take extreme blunt force trauma to cause cardiac arrest and that's without all the gear they wear.
Wish him the best but lets get back to some football.
Damar Hamlin updates: Bills safety asked in writing if team won game
One of Bills safety Damar Hamlin’s first thoughts after he woke up in the intensive care unit on Wednesday night was to ask, in writing, who won Monday's Bills-Bengals game during which he went into cardiac arrest.
Upon waking up after being sedated, Hamlin followed commands and even was able to communicate in writing. Hamlin remains in critical condition with a breathing tube, according to his doctors, who made their first public comments Thursday about his condition in a news conference held at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
“The answer is yes, Damar, you won the game of life,” Dr. Timothy Pritts said.
Hamlin’s first comments were to a nurse at his bedside, according to doctors, while his family, friends and members of the Bills organization have remained by his side since he was transported to the medical facility.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
You should pay more attention. It's no wonder you know so little about the sport.
NFL 2022
Well that sorts that out then...
I think they got that from Monty Python...CINCINNATI -- The Week 17 game between the Bengals and Bills has been canceled and will not continue, the league announced Thursday night.
<snip>
In announcing the decision to cancel the game, the NFL cited three key factors: The outcome would have no bearing on which teams qualified for the postseason; playing the game would have altered the playoff schedule for the remaining teams; and not playing the game would allow all clubs to know the postseason possibilities before the start of Week 18.
<snip>
Because of the canceled game, the league's owners will vote Friday -- with 24 of 32 needed (three-fourths majority) to approve -- on scenarios approved by the competition committee Thursday that involve a neutral site for an AFC Championship Game. Those are dependent on Week 18 outcomes:
• If Buffalo and Kansas City both win or tie, a Bills-Chiefs championship game will be at a neutral site.
• If Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Baltimore wins or ties, a Bills-Chiefs championship game will be at a neutral site.
• If Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Cincinnati wins, a Bills or Bengals vs. Chiefs championship game will be at a neutral site.
The potential neutral sites have not yet been determined. The seeds will hold up throughout the playoffs.
If Buffalo and Kansas City both win this weekend, the Chiefs will get the bye. If Buffalo wins and Kansas City loses, the Bills will be the No. 1 seed and get the bye, and no neutral sites would come into play.
If the Baltimore Ravens win and are matched against Cincinnati in an AFC wild-card game, the site will be determined by a coin flip. If Cincinnati wins or if the two teams are not matched against each other after a potential Ravens win, regular scheduling procedures will go into effect.

In his statement, Goodell said he recognizes "there is no perfect solution."
"As we considered the football schedule, our principles have been to limit disruption across the league and minimize competitive inequities," he said.
Bills-Bengals game will not resume amid Damar Hamlin's continued recovery
Well some good news for a change. He's one lucky boy.
Doctors who treated Damar Hamlin said the Bills safety was back in Buffalo on Monday, an uplifting sign of the remarkable progress he has made a week after going into cardiac arreston the field during a game in Cincinnati.
Hamlin was discharged from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Monday morning and flown to Buffalo, where Dr William Knight said he is “doing well.” The player will continue his recovery at a Buffalo hospital.

Hamlin was so excited watching teammate Nyheim Hines return the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown that “he jumped up and down, got out of his chair, set every alarm off in the ICU in the process,” Pritts said with a laugh.

Good Luck Snubs. Niners are tough.
True that, mate. I'm just not a steak person apart from the odd time in an Italian or at home...but always with a sauce (usually some kind of blue cheese base).
I've been scarred by too many memories of my mum and grandad doing a Chitty with it, but Stumps has promised to cook one for me when I'm next up north in Thailand. Maybe we can chew the fat over some NFL too.
Anyway, the beer has arrived and it's United v City soon, so...
Cut to the chase.
Super Bowl: San Francisco vs. Kansas City.
