Shane Warne reveals final message Dean Jones sent to him before cricket great died of a heart attack | Daily Mail Online
Shane Warne died aged 52 from a suspected heart attack and was found in his Thai villa in Koh Samui after landing in the country on Thursday.
Medical staff attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful.
The England Cricket team paying tribute to the player.
The team, currently in Antigua, paused their play and stood in the middle of the cricket ground to hold a minute's silence for Shane Warne.
RIP Warnie
That's two aussie cricket greats gone in 24 hours- Rod Marsh and Shane Warne. RIP. Both were noted for 'high living'- 'bacchus' Marsh downed 44 cans of beer on a Qantas flight to England, and warneys exploits sold many a British tabloid.
Bacchus (originally WA) adopted Adelaide as his home town actually- after his heart attack he was sent back home there, and passed away with family. Can't quite work out where warney was living of recent- Oz, or UK? I think he was ingrained in the popular culture of both countries.
^ I thought he served a ban from international cricket for failing a drug test.
As the condolence messages pour in, is there anyone of note or fame around the world he wasn't friends with?
^Melbourne. TDCSI is on the case
^He'd have been in 1st Class so moving around wouldn't be a problem, plus he's done more than enough air-miles over the years to be well aware of things like DVT you'd think. I wonder if his toxicology or autopsy report will be made public? There's always the chance he simply dropped dead from a heart-attack of course, as will countless people around the world today who are younger/fitter than Warne was!
Loved Warnie. He lived in my old stomping ground in Melbourne. His dick did get him into a bit of trouble but there's a lot of men that could say the same. Great character and the best spin bowler I've ever seen, bearing in mind he played on a lot of wickets not condusive to spin.
RIP Warney, Aussie legend and Icon. Bay 13 will miss you. You've got a bloody good 'keeper with you.
Cheers Willy good video, Back Spin at its best
RIP Shane Warne thanks for giving so much skill and pleasure
The MCG is going to rename the Great Southern Stand as the S.K. Warne Stand after him.
fuck.
I grew up in WA watching marshy as kid with my old man...and spent many hours watching warney's magic, winning the unwinnable matches, never giving in. And they both liked a drink and a smoke and a muck around - and they owned it.
Unbelievable.
52 years old - too young (scares me)!
I was just at the shop and some arsehole at the deli counter was mouthing off "he always was a fat bastard and smoked too much...and he was in thailand which is full of dodgy stuff" - what a [at][at][at][at]. TDers don't be that person!
I remember seeing him play - never thought much of spinners other than they're there to increase the run-rate but Warney was special. Being relatively new to cricket, had to play at school, there were quite a few amazing players in that era - Chappell, Border, Lillee, Pascoe, Thommo, Marsh, Big Merv, Mocca . . . and Warney later on with other amazing players.
RIP Warney ,i never took spin bowling seriously until seeing you bowl going to miss the famous flipper.
Can’t believe nobody’s mentioned his tireless work for charidee, along with his brother.
