One wonders which type of sport participant is more "socially distanced" than a tennis player?

Whether the, two OZ medical agencies, one national and one state, check which visa the person intends to use may not be in their remit, but it does seem an essential piece of fact to be considered.

Which may have some bearing on the OZ politician's statement prior to the tennis player arriving in OZ, to scrutinise a particular tennis player's entry status.

Or was it a political decision, taken by the OZ leader, not to have the visa/medical approval "mismatch" exposed, to improve the leader's polling numbers? On this particular tennis player when other foreign tennis players have allegedly been allowed entry.

As many now know, boarding a plane to visit a foreign country now requires a number of papers. One wonders how he boarded the flights from Serbia to OZ via a Dubai stop-over, where his papers, again, would have been scrutinised.

Which the airline check-in staff are pretty hot on. Although they, as well as your average border control officer, have discretion to allow travel or not. Unless pressure is applied to them when checking a particular tennis player's paper work.

I presume the participants are allowed to overtake others, which might be considered to be within two meters apart.

When did the tennis player leave OZ?

Tennis players pass next to each other throughout the match.

Sounds like you've never watched it.

Serbia has form at the Australian Open (2009) ... they served first in the chair throwing competition, but eventually lost due a cowardly retreat.

I think they call this Diplomatic negotiations

We'll know soon enough. I am no expert on tennis and perhaps the wealthy young man can comply with Australia's rules and that is his right and the Commonwealth's justice. I do fear if he is released it will send a strong anti vax message at the very time when we all need to be extra vigilant.

Sure both vaxxed and unvaxxed can catch and spread but it is a false dichotomy by those who know little of logic, epidemiology or the destructive effects of disinformation during a public health emergency.
Its like saying both Novax and I can play tennis, Mozart and I can play violin , I can do a put down at HB or Cy level I just don't have it in me even if I had teh wit desire and punmanship, mores the pithy.

Australia made a unique sacrifice in teh dismantling of the very Ottoman oppression whose seeds spread balkan wide at Gallipoli, there is more to Anzac history than 2 up and the drinking bowlos it was that tragic Churchillian error that forged the nation and the enduring bond with little brother New Zealand whose brave lads were also slaughtered for a King on teh other side of the world

Non tennis thoughts, so I'm sorry I had start another thread Harry I had not seen this one at the time as I m a not a know all genius and you may all ignore my final thoughts here as I sadly will join many in being mainly a passive observer of the increasingly intolerant board. I am happy to be berated for my waffle, arthritic typos and low intelligence but finding endless bickering a waste of time.

More moot is the handling of refugees everywhere where democracies are blackmailed as its hard to distinguish between economic migrants, who understandably seek a better future, the very types who created USA, and those really fleeing persecution like Bahais Rohinghya .

Australian taxpayers (of which I am one) have largely tried to do the right thing although the abuses at Banus, Xmas Island and others camps worldwide are while inexcusable, vulnerable young females at mercy of conscripts warders etc inevitable and tragic, kids spending years in camps.

He is certainly not in a detention centre as he is a millionaire free to leave Oz any time and it is but a shabby hotel such that many Thai villagers might envy.
His unmasked supporters are an insult to the dead and dying Australians and while claims to have covid in December he was seen partying i.e spreading.

I have very good Serbian friends both in Zemun and overseas in NSW.
Serbia has produced many noteworthy contributions to world history indeed Belgrad airport near Zemun is named after the subject of my thesis at Copenhagen Nikolai Tesla , whom slanderous Musk chose to hijack for his "BATTERY' company.

Serbia's Black Hand Gang did of course launch the first world war and its conflict with Ustase and the civil war within world war two were as bloody as teh Bosnian wars if not worse under Nazi heel when Royalisys and communists , Sers and Crots butchered each other

I may add Jelena my lawyer in Zemun says I ressemble the eccentric , alas I am no genius but similar hairdresser, a cunning montage inspired by Dali and the Sledgehammer Video
    -images-jpg

People are people good and bad everywhere, however there are some very dark recent stains.
Serb people have been very poorly led, and like many post Imperial places Belgrade has resented its diminished role. I grew up in Montenegran slippers and visited Skopje to help after the disaster , I recall Belgrad, where Mladic schooled in the Bohemian suburb, Zemun, in Tito days when it was the wealthiest of the communist nations and had distanced itself from Stalin and was relaxed , friendly if desperately poor compared to today but little worse than Franco's Spain, Salazar's Portugal or Dev's Ireland of the 1950s

    History of Repressive Violence

One of the few places in Europe in my life time aside from UK, Belarus or Turkey to have internment.
The attacks on the sick in their hospital beds in the Srem during the sieges of Vukovar and Vinkovci set the scene for the grim siege of Sarajevo. Inflamed by the disgraceful Nato bombings of Belgrad we had the like of Radovan Karadic and his Mlatko Mladic.

At Srebrenica they massacred thousands of Bosnian civiilalns the day the Dutch army ran away and was dishonoured in their were 8000+ ton one day and sadly yet more at Gorazde and so called N protected enclaves. Arkan and other armed militias terrified teh Sanjak and there have been untold killings from Mitrovice all the way to Croatia , Dalamatia, Herzagovina, Banat, and mainly Bosnia

These were not single example executions often used to restore order I the recall Danish forces shot a misbehaving Scot in Faroes, Exodus 47, my own Officer Ernie Feltham was invited to land Marines to shoot Yardie? rioters on the beach by the Jamaican regime, US riots in Brisbane, The Welsh at Tonypandy where a message is sent, this was outright genocidal slaughter from psychopaths in the style of a Mao Stalin or Hitler Pol Pot, there even used to be a person here who chose the handle Mao?

    Wiki linky at 143

Lest we forget the Zvornik seven or On 13 July, near Konjević Polje, Serb soldiers summarily executed hundreds of Bosniaks, including women and children.
    [143]
The men who were found attempting to escape by the Bratunac-Konjević Polje road were told that the Geneva Convention would be observed if they gave themselves up. In Bratunac, men were told that there were Serbian personnel standing by to escort them to Zagreb for an exchange of prisoners. The visible presence of UN uniforms and UN vehicles, stolen from Dutchbat, were intended to contribute to the feeling of reassurance. On 17 to 18 July, Serb soldiers captured about 150–200 Bosnians in the vicinity of Konjevic Polje and summarily executed about one half of them.

So Novax Novak you may have the soft small balls, you may have unmasked supporters, you may have millions but you have no more or less right than any other to over ride the justice of the Commonwealth.

For the sake of the young uns a country where sport is the dominant unifying religion may the Umpire strike back.

How long does an appeal take in Australia?

    https://www.aussizzgroup.com › australian-visa-refusal

Search for: How long does an appeal take in Australia?

What is the time period for processing of the appeal? The processing time may again vary depending upon the case category. However, generally the durations are long ranging anywhere around 12 to 18 months. It is only in special cases where you may request for an assessment on priority basis.

Novak Djokovic's visa cancellation quashed, tennis star to be released from detention

    10 January 2022

The decision to cancel Novak Djokovic's visa has been quashed by the Federal Circuit Court, and he will be freed from immigration detention.

On Monday afternoon, Judge Anthony Kelly read out a minute agreed to by both Djokovic and the government, which ordered the government to pay Djokovic's costs and release him from detention within 30 minutes.

Djokovic's passport and personal effects must be returned to him.

However, immediately after the ruling, Christopher Tran, lawyer representing the Australian government, informed the court Immigration Minister Alex Hawke reserves her personal power to remove Djokovic from Australia and said they are considering a second notice of cancellation, throwing his participation in the Australian Open next week into further doubt.

And the cost of all this:
Novak Djokovic visa saga could cost Aussie taxpayers 'close to half a million' in legal fees

If this doesn't work - tragic.

Oddly enough Djokovic can't go his lawyers' offices because the building has a 'no vaccination, no entry' policy.

    Farcical.

The thing i find distasteful is that if this was an ordinary Joe, they'd stand no chance - just further evidence if it was needed that justice is not equal for all
