Good for him I say, who knows what's going on in the background and to paraphrase Paddy Pimblett: 'I'd rather a mate bother me talking about his mental health than attend his funeral'. Tendency is to see these people as automatons and forget there's a person there going through person shit just like the rest of us.

As an aside and for what little it's worth even prior to this Hooper somehow managed to achieve the rare feat of going from being roundly detested in NZ rugby circles to being massively respected--it's quite remarkable really. Quade Cooper being another although slightly less so maybe.

Sorry, I don’t agree with it.
Precisely the inane gibberish of which I spoke.

Telling people with mental health issues that they are "letting someone down" is the mark of a poorly educated slubberdegullion.

    I just don't agree.

    Have your opinion.

    Here's another.

Lay down Sally cost her team a gold medal in the middle of the final race in which they were winning.

Now you're just being an idiot.

Robbins was dubbed “Lay Down Sally” after she stopped rowing and collapsed from exhaustion during the women’s eights final at the 2004 Games.

She wasn’t exhausted, she mentally quit. And admitted as such also. It was a choice.

Yeah not to the same extent though--respect or playing wise, he's not bad just more mercurial than consistently world class like Hooper.

I think he just had a bad reputation that followed him and that one Test where he kept getting into silly shit with McCaw didn't help.

Seems to have mellowed as he got older.

It's not a weird thing that these high performance individuals are feeling the stress and pulling out last minute. What's weird is that all these top ranked athletic teams have (or supposed to have) sports psychs that should be keeping on top of these things.

I wonder if the opinions of the psychs come lower down the priority list than the demands of the governors and sponsors.
Some people think it don't, but it be.

FFS, finally the All Blacks had some organisation out there on the pitch.

All Black stand outs would be Ioane who had a great night with ball in hand and on defense. Mo'unga should own the 10 jersey now. Takei'aho was excellent at hooker. Havili redeemed himself with a try late in the second half. Ardie Saves once again huge in defense and that nifty wee offload to Havili for the second half try.

As for the Bokke, how good is Lukhanyo Am? Absolute danger to score any time he has the ball. Pollard also a great night.

Well worth staying up for the 3AM start here in Aotearoa.

Watched the first half of Bokkes v NZ. A little messy to start with, but a great game. Didn’t stay up for the Aus Argi game and thank goodness I didn’t.

It finally all clicked for the ABs . . . so many losses that I almost felt sorry for them. Well done the ABs.

As for the Wobblies??? They got their teeth kicked in.

Thing I didn't get about the Bokke was not starting Marx (maybe the best hooker in rugby union at present). Other weird thing the Books were going for high kicks even when deep into All Black territory.

Foster will probably start Barrett again at first-five 'cos fuck knows. Mo'unga showed great composure and played well in Jo'burg, but Foster will still give the 10 jersey to Barrett. And why does Foster persist with Cane at openside flanker and captain? Bring in Hoskins Sotutu, Cullen Grace, or Dalton Papali'i. They're faster and less brittle. Of course, keep Ardie Savea out there. He's been excellent pilfering balls, making tackles, and moving the ball forward. Finally, move Will Jordan to fullback, bring in Sevu Reese out on the wing, and give the captaincy to Sam Whitelock.

    IMHO.

Australia vs. South Africa - a convincing win to the Wallabies over the current world champions - ahead 25-3 in the 74th minute they appear to have slept the last six, allowing two converted tries to SA taking the final score to 25-17.

and in tonight's second match a win in Christchurch for Argentina, winning 25-18, keeping them at the top of the table after three rounds.

    New Zealand 18 - Argentina 25

Argentina's second-ever win v NZ, and their first win in NZ.

Basically the same outfit that lost to Argentina last week. Beauden Barrett is back replacing Perofeta (at this stage I prefer Perofeta to Beaudy). Foster still persisting with Cane for whatever reasons. The AB mgt can't seem to find room for Sevu Reece who is better defensively than Caleb Clarke and has the talent to find room to run.

Here would be my changes. Jordan Barrett to 12. Will Jordan to fullback, Sevu Reece to 14, Beaudy out of game day 23. So long Sam Cane, Ardie Savea gets captain and moves to 7, and Hoskins Sotutu to wear the number 8 jersey.

Apart from Beaudy, I'd agree with all of that.
