U.S. expected to announce diplomatic boycott of the Winter Olympics in Beijing

The Biden administration is expected to announce a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing this week, a senior administration official said late Sunday.

A diplomatic boycott would mean that no U.S. government officials would attend the games but that U.S. athletes would still be allowed to compete.

A full boycott was not expected.

CNN first reported the news of the expected announcement.

The Biden administration has been under pressure from lawmakers to institute the diplomatic boycott. They have wanted to take a stand against China’s human rights abuses.

President Joe Biden said last month that the administration was considering the move.

China has been criticized for cracking down on pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, for its policies toward Tibet and Taiwan, and for detaining and abusing Muslim Uyghurs in Xinjiang.

The State Department, along with some European countries, has classified China's actions against Uyghurs as "genocide."

"We have serious concerns about the human rights abuses that we’ve seen," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said last month.

Chinese government officials have warned of a "robust Chinese response" should the U.S. or other countries launch boycotts.

US confirms it won't be sending diplomats to Beiijing.

Chinky whiners: '....no one would care about whether these people come or not, and it has no impact whatsoever on the #Beijing2022 to be successfully held.'

Also chinky whiners: "The US is attempting to interfere out of ideological prejudice and based on lies and rumors...The US will pay a price for its practices. You may stay tuned for follow-ups'

So no evidence of the NaGastan or xxx politicians invitations, issued by China, which would substantiate your allegation.

    The view from China:

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian’s Regular Press Conference on December 7, 2021

"The Winter Olympics is not a stage for political posturing and manipulation.

According to Olympic rules, officials are invited by their respective National Olympic Committee to attend the Olympic Games.

Whether the US officials will come to the Beijing Winter Olympics and root for their own athletes is the US’ own business. Despite not even being invited, the US side linked its officials’ attendance with the so-called human rights issues in Xinjiang, going down the wrong path further by distorting facts while deceiving themselves as well as others. The US political agenda wins no supports and is doomed to fail."

Poor old chinkies, there will be more coming. They hate it.

The prime minister, Scott Morrison, has confirmed Australian officials will not attend the Beijing Winter Olympics, joining the United States in a diplomatic boycott of next year’s Games and prompting accusations from Beijing of political posturing.

Umm . . . it is a real boycott. Is there something about the definition which are not sure about?

A real boycott: We will not attend.

Not a real boycott: We will not attend . . . well, except for the following will attend . . .

    Make sense?

It doesn't need to be damaging to the games.

It just needs to get global headlines saying

"XXXXXXXXXXXXX boycotts Olympics because of CHINKY HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSES"

    which the chinkies fucking hate.

So they have to get all their trolls frantically trying to interfere with the online narrative in hundreds of different languages.

IOC Executive Board meeting in December – Information for the media

    02 Dec 2021

"The IOC will hold a virtual press conference after each day of the meeting.

IOC Executive Board meeting – Day 1
    Date: Tuesday 7 December
    Time: 12 - 5 p.m.CET (EB meeting); 6 p.m. CET* (press conference)"

IOC Executive Board meeting in December – Information for the media - Olympic News

Three reports on the build up in Beijing for the upcoming Winter Games, then a Q and A session from yesterdays IOC leader's press conference.

Generally all good news, no problems and all appears to be heading for another spectacle to remember.

The first and second questions include queries regarding the political boycott by some nations governments.

The IOC make it very clear that the boycott is from the competing nation's governments, and they are responsible for inviting their political visitors to the IOC events.

China does not make the decision to invite or deny competing nation's politicians access to IOC events.

The video: the Q and A start at the 13-minute mark.

    All meaningless.

wft are diplomats doing there anyway. The Olympics is deliberately a non political event.

The real problem now is that money has now turned these events into a circus, made worse by Franco/German cvnts in Switzerland, a country notorious for washing war crime money and it seems their morals have not improved in the last 70 odd years. Why does the world allow a country that is party to embezzling and criminals to host its global headquarter organisations for so many sports.

Ah yes, Olympic news, that site that is the go-to bookmark for news watchers around the world.

Of course the IOC have a vested interest in sucking up to the chinkies, because they don't want bad headlines either.

Hence the staged "video chat" with the imprisoned tennis player.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that Canada will launch a diplomatic boycott of the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. No federal government officials will attend the games. Canadian athletes will still be allowed to compete.
The U.S., U.K. and Australia already have announced they won't send official delegations to the games — a collective attempt to send a message to China that its human rights abuses have not gone unnoticed. Speaking to reporters on Parliament Hill, Trudeau said the government is "extremely concerned" by the "repeated human rights violations carried out by the Chinese government." He said Canada will show its displeasure with the communist regime by withholding the delegates that normally would attend high-profile events like the opening and closing ceremonies.
Asked if he was anticipating any blowback from Beijing for snubbing China as it prepares to host the world, Trudeau said "this should not come as a surprise" to the regime. "For months, we have been coordinating and discussing the issue with our allies," he said.

No surprise here. So far pretty much only I5 countries. Be interesting to see how many will join the parade.

It really is a load of cobblers.

'What? No diplomatic element? That spoils the whole thing!' says absolutely nobody anywhere.
