    France this weekend:

    The 2022 Formula 1 Thread-untitled-jpg

Funny reading how Toto has totally got inside Horner's head talking about the floor changes for Belgium.

"NO WE ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING DODGY WITH FLOORS" says Horner while simultaneously whining about FIA imposing new rules to stop people doing dodgy things with floors.

The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

Not entirely sure how 27 years old qualifies as a "young driver"!

Mercedes have announced that reserve driver Nyck de Vries will be behind the wheel of the W13 during the first practice session of this weekend’s French Grand Prix, in place of Lewis Hamilton.
This will be the 27-year-old Dutch driver’s second FP1 outing of the season he took the wheel of the Williams FW44 in place of Alex Albon at the Spanish Grand Prix earlier this season. Moreover, De Vries tested Mercedes machinery in last year’s post-season Abu Dhabi Grand Prix test.
Team Principal Toto Wolff said: "Nyck is replacing Lewis in first practice this weekend, as part of the allocated sessions for young drivers this year. So, we're looking forward to seeing how he gets on."

It sounds like they are managing Hamilton’s propensity for back injuries?

    This doesn't jump out then?

as part of the allocated sessions for young drivers this year.
    Maybe to elucidate:

As part of the 2022 sporting regulations teams are obliged to run rookie drivers in two FP1 sessions across the season.
World champion outfit Mercedes will give its first FP1 slot of the year to its test and reserve driver De Vries, who will sample the team's W13 at Paul Ricard on Friday.

Sounds just like Horner’s attitude to regulations. If the cap fits?

What exactly are you on about?

Every team has to give two sessions to a young driver. They can pick them. George has gone for one later in the season.

I don't know when the choice was made, but clearly Sir Lewis isn't worried about missing a session on a smooth, fast track.

He might be upset if the cloggy clumps the wall though.

Perhaps choosing a smooth fast track gives less chance of the novice hitting the wall?

These are just my observations Harry. Nothing more nothing less. :shrugs:

No, it was this I didn't get

Every team has to do it. Some might already have, but we haven't noticed. I've said already I suspect Lewis has probably got a few sponsor beanos to attend, it being his 300th GP and all. It's probably been planned for a long time.

Anyway the young lad did OK, hit a lot less kerbs than Red Bull did

So it seems not only was Lewis in the garage but on the radio during the young driver's stint, and also in the debrief.
Good on him. DeVries could only gush about the advice he was offered on how to tweak the car.

They don't have different shirt for different drivers. Just a team shirt. Sadly Alpine don't seem to employ a graphic designer for their apparel.

Also not original. I'm not paying 55 Euros.

I have to augment my Mild Seven Renault shirt from 2004/5

The Scuderia are really gonna have to fuck things up to lose this Frog GP. Killed it in qualifying. Max looked like he was fighting the car. Yellow sectors on his last lap.

Pepe on pole and the Red Bull's behind him.

Sainz (and Magnussen) start from the back of the grid. The list of Sainz' part changes after the fire means they might as well have just given him a new car (maybe they did)

Horner keeps having to explain to idiots that qualifying pace is not as important as race pace, but if the heatwave is still on, tyre management is going to be a massive part of today's race.

    Lights out at 8pm Thailand.

That could be good if he takes out Lando at the first corner.

Judging by what Arry posted about RB, he's predicting a Red Bull win. I don't think Ferrari tire deg is nearly as much of a thing as it was before. If Leclerc keeps it on the track without technical difficulties , he wins.

Pepe puts it in the wall from the front, Lewis gets a free pit stop under the safety car and looks like Ferrari have handed it to Mad Max again.

Sainz gets a five second penalty for an unsafe release, and Russell is right on Perez who appears to have problems.

Might get two Mercs on the podium. Which is nice.

    Superb driving from Mercedes

Lewis you expect it, but George absolutely mugged Perez.
