    Italy is going ahead.

The engine Lewis clumped with 40g the other week is obviously deemed beyond repair, so he's taking a new one and dropping to the back of the grid.

I'm a bit confused as to how Sainz can drop 25 places and still not be back of the grid mind you.

Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Carlos Sainz, Valtteri Bottas and Yuki Tsunoda have received grid penalties for the 2022 Italian Grand Prix.
Hamilton’s PU change was confirmed on Thursday, with Mercedes’ seven-time champion to drop to the back of the grid having taken every engine component bar control electronics (CE) and energy store (ES).
Red Bull’s drivers, Verstappen and Perez, will also face drops for exceeding their respective allocations of internal combustion engines (ICE). Verstappen has a five-place grid drop for taking his fifth ICE of the season while Perez will drop 10 places for a fourth ICE.
Ferrari driver Sainz has exceeded his allocation of gearbox components, ES and MGU-K, and will therefore drop 25 grid positions in total.
AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda, who will already drop 10 places for accumulating five reprimands over the season, will add to his penalties with a host of new power unit components.
As for Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas, he hinted at incoming penalties after his late on-track stoppage at Zandvoort. The Finnish driver has new engine components and is to drop 15 places while Tsunoda and Hamilton will start at the back.
In other news, Porsche have dropped out of talks to be Red Bull's engine partner but are still keen on another team.

Probably too late to save Latifi, but...

    Formation Lap underway.

Be interesting to see if De Vries can embarrass Latifi.

    Safety Car on Lap 49.

    "Who's leading?"
    "Verstappen"
"Oh, in that case let's finish the race under the safety car".

    Just fancy that.

Formula 1's governing body is said to be preparing to announce that two teams, Red Bull and Aston Martin, exceeded last year's $145m (£114m) cap.
No doubt Mo will try and fiddle it for Red Bull again.

    Singapore...rain delays

    6.53
Brooms are in hand now as the marshals desperately try to clear the track of standing water. Proceed with caution and we could go racing fairly quickly once race control gives the thumbs up.
    Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton's nose ...

Silver Arrows were handed a 25,000 euros (£22,000) fine for inaccurately filling in their self assessment scrutineering form saying Hamilton would comply with the regulations not to wear jewellery, only for him to do so.

Been pissing down in Singapore so the start will be late.

Expect a few safety cars as it doesn't look like this track drains very well.

Thanks to multiscreen I don't have to worry about it clashing with the footy or the cricket.

    Strange finish to the race.

Perez "won" it, but could be looking at a ten second penalty for safety car violations.

And they haven't decided yet, so we could go through the whole interviews and podium shit and then find it was all for nothing.

    Wankers.

    Good result for McLaren.

Still no news on the Checo safety car story. To me it looked like a clear infringement and I don't know why it could not have been decided during the race. That said, was anybody seriously disadvantaged?

Sergio Perez’s elation after crossing the line in P1 at the end of a tough Singapore Grand Prix was kept in check by a post-race investigation hanging over him for an alleged Safety Car infringement – with Perez ultimately handed a five-second penalty that meant he held onto his fourth career victory.

Seems a bit hollow, giving a 5 second penalty after the race already knowing that he had won by 7 seconds. Although, 2 points on his licence too.

Yeah well, FIA and Red Bull.

It's like when they decided that finishing a race under a safety car was OK after all....

Of course they've deferred any decision to see how they can arrange a penalty that doesn't affect any titles being closed out this weekend.

Suzuka is wet, and it might be wet all weekend. Thailand times.

Mad Max gets pole until they do/don't penalise him for a clear breach of the rules.

Gosh, no penalty for steering across the front of someone on a fast corner.

Well, when you're Red Bull, the rules don't apply.

Might some rain around come race time, or perhaps standing water.

Some! Pissing down so bad the race red flagged after 1 lap. Still no restart. Might not get restart if rain doesn't stop. No restart, no race as need at least 305 km minimum needed to get points.

Restart. Max is flying in the rain. P1 and opening. Max simply the best of the rest. May well end this as champ.
