I have long term injuries from both games.
Football was the shins and scars still visible 30 odd years later...should have worn those crappy shin pads....
Rugby was the knees that can collapse just walking up hill nowadays.
Started playing both games on a full size pitch when I was 10, which didn't help matters. Worst injury has playing in goal and diving for the ball as the striker was shooting; woke up in hospital with concussion, having broken his leg with my head.
I broke wrist, numerous bones in fingers and toes playing football. I lost way too many teeth playing Rugby (got kicked in the side of the jaw a couple of times with no gumshield)
I also lost one of my front teeth hitting the post when I saved a penalty. It is a root canal job and I don't bother with the false tooth any longer.
Key part of your post Troy, " 30 odd years later" back when soccer players did not try to milk the rules for a penalty. I would have a reborn respect for the game if the person claiming the injury was sent off for medical treatment and if found not needing had to sit the rest of the game out.
Israel Folau,
Another oz rugby league player that went to rugby union,
He was sacked from International Rugby because he tweeted a meme about "poofs" going to hell.
Yeh but really- soccer is a bit of a pooftas game, innit?
^ Ha haaa,, 1988 comedy was more clever than the crap now days.
Tongans and Kiwis are fucking huge.
Major championship ends 1-1 and then won by penalty shootout.
What a shit game soccer is.
Not trolling, just calling it as I see it.
Never understood the attraction of soccer.
The only thing that would have made it more boring would have been a goalless draw.
Still cant beat aussie rules for versatility. Here is a Geelong AFL player throwing an american football.

And of course you could've done it better Harold. That guy is quite an Athlete and a top player in the AFL.
On another tack, soccer is still the premier game in the world and Rugby is a minnow in comparison. The one thing they have in common is it is possible to win a game on penalties alone. That and the low scoring detracts from the excitement of the game to me and spoils any game. I admire the foot skills of soccer and the plays in Rugby league but Rugby union is rather boring. NFL is ok too as long as they edit out all the time outs. I am told college football is better if you are at the game.

Can't get that if you're at a game or watching it live on TV unfortunately, the ball is actually in play for about 10 minutes of the 3 to 4 hours a game takes! For that 10 minutes it's a good game, but the ridiculous amount of downtime and theatrics of someone who'd probably otherwise be doing 30 to life when he makes the first down with 3 minutes left on the clock and his team down by 47 points make it totally unwatchable.
