You've gotta feel sorry for the Americans.

Donald Trump blames 'leftist maniacs' for USA's bronze medal in women's football at Tokyo Olympics

Former US president Donald Trump has lashed his country's women's football team for being too "woke" after they won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.

    Key points:
    • The former president and Megan Rapinoe have clashed in the past
    • Mr Trump said the team would perform better if they replaced the "wokesters" with patriots
    • The US team suffered a shock loss to Canada in the semi-finals, but beat Australia to bronze

The number-one ranked Americans suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Canada in the semi-finals, before beating Australia 4-3 to claim bronze.

It was a moderate underperformance for a country that has claimed four previous Olympic gold medals, but Mr Trump put the blame on the perceived personal politics of some of the players.

"If our soccer team, headed by a radical group of Leftist Maniacs, wasn't woke, they would have won the Gold Medal instead of the Bronze," Mr Trump said in a statement released on Twitter by his chief spokeswoman.

Canada beat Sweden in the laydees football in a penalty hoofenkicken.

In all honesty they deserved to lose for the endless chances they failed to put away. Stevie fucking Wonder could have netted a few of those.

The American laydees seem very pleased with their football bronze.

The Swedes have faces like smacked arses over their silver.

It's a slightly weird, but understandable system.

You WIN the play-off for Bronze and you are elated to have 'medaled' and elated that you won the game.

You LOSE the Gold match and you have both lost the Gold and lost the match.

Given time, I'm sure the Silver medalists will value their achievement.

For me, some of the take-outs are ...

Glad that the 3 person basketball was played ... sort of what it's like in a neighborhood.

The 12 yo skateborder who won a medal.

Sports climbing (well, I've only watched the Lassies) and the whole family picks their winner, watch them scale the wall like spiderman and it's all over in under 10 secs (pure vertical climb).

Watching the pure chaos that is cycling's Madison race. Apparently GB does as they nailed that race.

And a new sporting hero for me in the Australian basketball team player Patty Mills.

Allyson Felix Wins Bronze In 400 To Become Olympics' Most Decorated Female Track Athlete

The U.S. legend captured her 10th career Olympic medal during the Tokyo games.

Allyson Felix further cemented her Olympic greatness at the Tokyo games, finishing third in the 400-meter race on Friday.

Shaunae Miller-Uibo of Bahamas won in 48.36 seconds and Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic was second in 49.20. Felix’s time was 49.46 ― just a few ticks behind her personal best of 49.26.:
