Good article. Everyone paid less attention to CART after Penske and Gnassi left. Including me. But I ran across this highlight video of Paul Tracy and Sebastian Bordais. It looks like it was still pretty good even in those lean years. Too bad it all went to shit. But its slowly getting back

It is, but the fact it is a spec series makes it less interesting. CART really had it all back then.

Just listening to this Dinner with Racers podcast. Helio Castroneves tells a story about indulging in service of a prostitute in Vancouver in 1996. He had a stressful day and his lackey suggested it. He's a great guy. Most ppl would keep this story under wraps but he doesn't give a fuck. The story starts around 39:50

Actually they can by a long way. Indy car top speed about 80kph faster and cornering speed much higher. Hey, open a supercar thread. Sure to become a dandy.

Indycar/CART were V8's the majority of the time. Just curious why you assumed otherwise. What did you think they were ? 4 cylinders ?

    And F1 was V8 for a long time. V10 and V12 previously

Indycar practice and qualifying results from the Grand Prix of Long Beach

Tomorrow, the NTT Indycar Series takes the green flag in Long Beach, California. On Saturday the field rolled to the track for a knockout qualifying session to set the starting lineup.

    Final Round
    Report

Romain Grosjean was trending in the green in the closing seconds of the final round. Then he climbed the wall and found the tire barrier. He was already sitting 2nd on the board but his time is disallowed after the crash.
2 seconds remain on the clock with the red flag displayed for the crash. Indycar then announced that everyone would get one more flying lap in the session as they didn’t get the entire 6 minutes of the session. Drivers were highly confused with the ruling.
Felix Rosenqvist and Alexander Rossi were the only two drivers to take advantage of the added time in qualifying. Both of them failed to improve their time.
Colton Herta will start from the pole position with a 108.480

Well we have our first Grosjean incident. He didn't hit the guy on purpose. Just his erratic inputs again

Season opener. This Grosjean pole lap is pretty spunky. He went on to crash in the race. Marcus Erricson won.

He keeps moving down the food chain, demonstrating his capacity for failure. A bit like Backspin really.

Grosjean has history of failure at motor sport events, mostly of his own making. The similarities of such failures in life are common to both of you. His is slightly more high profile.
Why do you post on here?

Scott Dixon to be inducted into Motorsports Hall of Fame
    15 April 2023

Scott Dixon is one of IndyCar’s winningest drivers, and will have his name forever enshrined in the Motorsports Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class.

The announcement was made on Friday afternoon, with Dixon’s long-time team owner Chip Ganassi present to relate his thoughts on why his star driver of over 20 years deserves to have his name added to the prestigious list.

“I guess part of the reason I think I’m in the Hall of Fame is because of this guy, what he’s done for my career,” said Ganassi about Dixon’s achievement.

Dixon first ascended to the top level of motorsports in 2001 when he drove for PacWest Racing in the CART Series, and promptly won his first race in the third event of the season at just 20 years old.

He took his first season title two years later in 2003, and has gone on to win five more championships since then.

Dixon’s career statistics are nothing short of amazing.

The Kiwi has 53 wins to his name, second only to A.J Foyt on the all-time list, 28 pole awards, six championships, and one Indy 500 victory.
