I was checking up on the Marlins frequently back then because of Ichiro. He actually set a MLB record which he still holds for pinch hit plate appearances in a single season. But, dang … that team held some serious possibility back then with Ozuna, Yelich, Realmuto, Stanton and even Gordon. None of them are on the team now.

Congrats to SF fans for the 100 win season!

Awful what happened. So much potential.

One of baseball’s most talented players, gone far too soon.

A Cuban exile, Fernandez and his family had made it to the United States in 2008 after three prior failed attempts. The same ocean that had given his family their sought freedom had been the scene of Fernández’s death.

    All are missed, especially Stanton.

The Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday defeated the Marlins by a score of 7-3. That win in tandem with the Yankees' thrilling win over the Red Sox earlier on Saturday means that the Rays are American League East champions for 2021.: https://twitter.com/MLB/status/1441933060015075329

Thanks for making a 9am drunken comment about the Giants. Not necessary at all but your MO for this time.

Back at the games tomorrow. AZ Dbacks at SF Giants and SD Padres at LA Dodgers. No gimmes now. The eliminated teams want to be spoilers. Expect some unconventional play. Magic number is 5.

Suit up, gonna be a race to the NL west pennant

I dont think Seth Landreth knows there is a west coast or a National League. Go Giants, gotta be next man up with Belt breaking his thumb.

Oh my, those comments I made at almost 10pm here on a Saturday night that I was out drinking at the bar and came home sloshed. I think I must have passed out right after those posts.

I did get one thing right about Niners fans being whiners.

Seattle crushed the A's last night and are making a last resort push to get into the playoffs. The team is loaded with young talent and if they do not get in this year their time is coming for sure.

Been reading some social media from Seattle. Talk about whining. Seahawks get off to a 1-2 start and people really get angry. Lets what see happens next Sunday.

While this belongs in a NFL thread, the pressure to win a superbowl for every NFL team is high every season. As soon as any team loses the whining begins. There are not a lot of games so every loss gets people fired up for whichever team they follow.

    Back to baseball......

Win tonight and only the Skankees will be ahead of the Mariners for the AL wild card. Can’t afford to lose tonight or we’ll be 2 out with 4 games left.

    How do you reckon?

Mariners: 1 vs. Oakland, 3 vs. Los Angeles Angels

Seems you have 4 games left

Gonna take a combination of Boston loss and Mariners win to get there. Will probably be decided on last day. Usually how it goes.
You need the Redsox to lose 1 game and the Mariners run out the last 4 games

Bob Nightengale - The Tampa Bay #Rays clinch home-field advantage through the AL playoffs with a 7-0 victory over the #Astros: https://twitter.com/BNightengale/sta...14484886822913

And as I understand a record for the Rays……….

Rays get their 98th win to break the franchise record.

Yep, sadly though the Redsox won so no help for you.

Same for Giants, Giants won and the Dodgers pulled out a wild come back.

    Just have to keep winning.
