It's a very finely matched event. The "rumours" have been shown to have been just that.

So many variables to consider minute by minute.

The excellent match racing and coverage are also available at the Americas Cup site. Live, replay and a variety of views/options.

    https://www.americascup.com/en/advanced-dashboard

    Thanks 'arry.

Luna Rossa take a 3-2 lead with an 18sec win in Race 5.

    Race 6 coming up.

Light winds favouring the Italians it seems.

Excellent competition now . . . 3-3. Spithill clearly a better skipper, Emirates NZ the faster boat

I went Blokarting for the first time today, so I'm now pretty much a sailing expert.

I predict the team that goes fastest will win.

The Italians made such a pigs arse of the start in that race, it's amazing how crucial it is even though you would think there would be plenty of time to recover.

If needed there are races for the next three days.

Boat top speed is one factor.

    Others include:

    1. The ability to point ones bow closer to the wind

    2. The ability to round the turn buoys at speed

    3. The timely availability of the higher wind speed location

    4. The decision by the skipper to cover the opponent or not

    5. The absence of boat malfunctions

It does appear that, if the lead boat places their boat to cause it's wind shadow to blanket the trailing boat, it has a large effect.

As has the Emirates boat previously.

Has anyone suggested any boat problems. The Luna Rossa boat appeared to hit a brick wall.

The wind speeds appears to be quite small 7 - 12 nots, any windy days expected?

The cool as a cucumber skippers seem to have an exciting time, I wonder how much the grinders see of the match.

    Looking forward to match 13.

Not enough wind for racing today.

    Postponed until tomorrow.

A titanic fuck up from NZ trying to chase Luna Rossa, they ended up almost dead in the water.

A 2000m lead for Lua Rossa and Emirates NZ is struggling to get going.

Two boundary penalties for the Italians and they have lost a lead of almost 3/4 of a leg. What a disaster.

The Kiwis turned a 4+ minute deficit into a 4+ minute lead.

They are one win away from the Cup.

Correction: They are two wins away from the cup.

    Emirates NZ 5-3 Luna Rossa

But anyway it could all be over tomorrow.

Much better races . . . sadly there's very little wind, around 4-6 knots, forecast now.

The Italians had it in the bag until the Italian came out, and they fucked up and blew a huge lead.

They had the race in the bag until they made a dumb mistake as Italian often do. What is so hard for your feeble little English mind to understand?

Your pathetic attempts at making sense snubby, you demented fucking pisshead.

The Italians had it in the bag until the Italian came out
The Kiwis had the same problem as the Italians numbnuts, only the Italians did not get a favourable breeze to get them back out of the water, and plus the organizers shortened the race by a leg.

So stop spouting shit and go to bed you alcoholic.

The Italians led at each of the first four legs by staying in the Kiwis face, and then inexplicably left them and took a gamble on better winds on the opposite side of the course and in a flash were 400m down, leaving Emirates NZ to coast home.

6-3 and the fat lady is clearing her throat for a sea shanty.

NZ has a faster boat . . . let's hope the winds die down to 7-9 knots tomorrow but they're forecast to be around the mid teens

It's not just about the boat, it's about changing winds on the course, the selection of the correct jib, course position, etc.
