One for all sports fans. What's the game you look forward to the most in your season?

For me, being a Manchester United fan, it's tomorrow: Liverpool. If you look at the history, it goes deeper than football, but United and Liverpool are the two teams that represent our cities.

I grew up on this game when Liverpool were more successful than us (in the 80s), but we were still more famous. It's been as nasty as you can ever imagine at times - my mate's been slashed across his face on the way back to Liverpool Lime Street station and I know of much much worse - but we really do have a degree of respect for what each other has achieved. That said, every game I've ever been to has been pure venom with people getting hurt. Sometimes very seriously.

I "look forward to" it in that it's the first I pick out from the fixture list, but that isn't really true. It means so much to win or to lose that I'm a bag of nerves and I'm actually relieved to get it over with.

    That's my game.

Klopp and his mob of Bin Dippers , well I'll reserve my predictions for the match because of my track record.

Back when I followed the league, yep, that was the game.

I'm a Man U supporter and my BiL a Liverpool fan.

    ---

Now? ... the decider (Game 3) in a tied (one game all) State of Origin series at Lang Park.

I reckon where it's being played is almost as important as the combatants.

    AND ...

The Lord's Ashes (Cricket) match between the Aussies and the Soap Dodgers

    They're my games
Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago ...

Point of order, Utd are from the City of Trafford.

Manchester City is the only team to represent Manchester.

Chicos Everton are on a par with Liverpool at the moment also from the city.

What was that previously not as famous club in Liverpool that played Spurs in the cup recently?

David, you've gone down in my estimation now

I bet FC of Manchester has lost a few fans recently as well.

Sorry to disappoint you, Chits, but you're not really important to us and never have been.

    You're not a proper club.

I wouldn't say Lords either, but I've been to Ashes tests in London.

I've also been to a few finals at the Oval and Lords involving Lancashire!

    We tended to win!

For me, it would be the aussie rules grand final and the rugby league state of origin series. The highpoint of the Adelaide winter.

You grew up in England, Sabs.

You got a football, cricket or rugby team?

The 'Ashes' are a series name, not a location . . . innit.

    Hmm, in the EPL?

I think Klopp, nothing to do with being German, has done an amazing job at Liverpool. The play a very attractive style of football and that's always a plus.
ManU isn't up to par with them, so I think it's unfortunately have t be ManCity that will provide the best game.

Sorry, Hal . . . the ManU of old is gone, I'm afraid and wont return as it was more than just a football club. It had an aura, like Liverpool - now, not so much (but then neither does ManCity, even less. Far less)

This is where I actually side with Cyrill, his team is West Brom and he sticks by them - he wasn't born into a big club area but he is a better fan than most who follow the big four or five. Same with me, I follow Köln despite them being i the first division one year, second the year after etc... and the Bayern, Dortmund etc... fans love the success

    So, sadly: ManCity v Liverpool

Not into soccer I'm afraid, but always nice to see Brum city do well (ie never). In cricket I break ranks, and support England over Australia. Otherwise it's the green n gold.

Bit disappointed in you there, hatty.

I don't think there's too much difference between me and Cy in our teams. He happens to be from the West Midlands whereas I come from North Manchester and, believe me, I've shed my tears and felt my pain.

I didn't choose my team like I imagine Cy didn't choose his. It's just the way it is with families and ours is very much North Manchester red like Cy's will be West Midlands Baggies.

One of my best pals, who I met in Thailand, is proper Brum. He's cricket too, so we get along.

I don't understand rugby and don't want to.

What the fuck! Football, rugby, cricket and the like are bland and have far too many rules.

For me the highland games top them all by a long way. Parades, dancing, drunken parties and tests of strength, endurance and agility.

As a young lad in Canada was much looked forward to every year.

With respect to classic games that have had me on the end of my seat over the years, this is the order I look forward to each season...

And I've always prefered watching United away tbh, not just this season..

    So...
Liverpool v Man U... Goes without saying. Massive rivalry, bigger than a derby.
    Then..
Arsenal v Man U which is always free flowing
As are Spurs v Man U
Been some belting Chelsea v Man U games

Then the noisy neighbours are around here with West Ham or Everton.
