That was a complete farce, I am glad I went to bed.
They postponed it and waited for a lucky break in the weather. And it never came. With the Womens crash and Lando Norris's crash at Eau Rouge , they couldn't go ahead with it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
The evac chopper wouldn't be able to take off when they needed it most

By doing two laps behind the safety car and getting a "result" they could have got anyway from Q3, it gets them out of having to refund people because they have contractually provided "racing".
Fucking shocking and I hope there is a concerted campaign to boycott Spa after this. Maybe that will make them change their minds.
Mad Max demonstrates a notable disconnect from reality!
“Of course it’s a win but it’s not how you want to win. I think today big credit goes to all the fans around the track, to stay here the whole day in the rain, in the cold, windy conditions, so I think they are actually the bigger winners today.”
*crickets*
Especially after Vettel was preaching about how dangerous it was. And then the womens series crash. They couldn't race. The evac helicopter couldn't take off. They couldn't race Monday or reschedule it completely. So they did this. There was nothing else they could do
Nah that's hogwash. Technology isn't linear. All the low hanging fruit was picked by Y2k. The economics of racing and technology is pointing everyone in the direction of more spec. Everyone can see how much of a dead end it is for teams to be spending 100 million on aero just for a miniscule leg up.
And its not about pure speed either because the 2005 cars hold a lot of the track records still. F1 will never be a spec series but they will keep trending in that direction because if they don't , the size of the field will keep shrinking.
Plus Indycar had a civil war from 1979 to 2008. If not for the civil war , Indy probably would still have 3-4 chassis and more engines. It was their own fault but I can see a civil war brewing in F1 right now.
Greenwashers have taken control of the direction of F1. Hybrid electric , "sustainable" fuels. They want to go full electric eventually. Then maybe sustainable tires made of recycled bottles. Then maybe diversity quotas.
Not all the teams like Red Bull are gonna go along with this eco-SJW direction. They will eventually draw a line. And if it gets bad enough , they will break away with a few other teams and start their own series.

Rumor has it that Romain Grosjean will sign with Andretti Autosport for a full time seat. A top 3 Indycar team.
That would be money. Grosjean is fast and agressive. Never a dull moment with him behind the wheel.
