WTF was he thinking trying that with hot brakes?

    Alonso will be pleased.

Perez: "I'm very sorry for Max" yeah I fucking bet he is.

Us Americans would call locking the binders and going hot into a corner "choking". Your fake champion has been coddled from day one. Finally, he is being exposed.

Methinks they'll be having a fucking good look at that switch.

Lewis Hamilton was looking good for second place in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the very least as he lined up in that position on the grid for the Lap 50 restart – before he locked up at Turn 1 and sailed past race leader Sergio Perez down an escape road and out of the points entirely.

Immediately afterwards the Mercedes driver was heard over team radio asking his race engineer Pete Bonnington: "Did I have the magic on?"

"Yeah looks like it was knocked back on," came the reply, before Hamilton said: "Could've sworn I switched it off".

'Brake magic' is understood to be a setting used by Mercedes behind the Safety Car to help heat the brakes by altering, amongst other things, the brake bias settings.

And after the race the reigning world champion further explained how his restart had gone so wrong, on a day when his chief title rival Max Verstappen also failed to score points
thanks to his late crash in Baku - which caused the red flag and restart in the first place.

"Just on the restart, I think when Checo [Perez] moved over towards me, I clicked a switch and it basically switches the brakes off, and I jut went straight," he said. "I had no idea that I’d even touched it."
Hamilton explains switch issue that led to him dropping from P2 to P15 at crucial Azerbaijan GP restart | Formula 1(R)

Hamilton choked. This bad finish and given up points was pure driver error.

I haven't watched a race in a long time. Is there still tire issues in F1? All 3 crashed looked like tires. Why did Verstappen lose his car all by himself ...

No team dominates forever. Its about time for Mercedes to stumble.

I wonder what's going on with Bottas. Excuse the pun but he was never at the races from FP1.

A triumph of hope over experience. England didn't even try to chase, just dug in and held on for the draw.

When Vettel passed Leclerc on the track I believe I could see his smile bursting out of his helmet. Not a Vettel fan myself, still a top class drive and he deserved the podium.

As for Lewis and for Max, you have to feel sorry for both of them. On the plus side, this keeps the championship very mch alive.

Meanwhile, did Bottas actually turn up to race?

He opted for a new (and different to 44) wing after FP apparently.

Don't think it worked out for him.

Mazepin is going to kill himself or someone else if daddy doesn't pull the plug or F1/FIA don't do something.

I think it operates on "Daddy is putting throwing money at the sport so we'll let it go".

This video hits the mark. Lewis Hamilton had a humble beginning. But now he's an overly glamorous vegan douchebag. And he's always had it too easy. When his career turns south, everyone will gather around the fire and watch him burn.

Hamilton is by far the best driver in F1

Its such a pity that his success allowed him to abuse his sporting achievements and post bollox on twatter. The two worlds are not connected.

He is just one of many so-called celebrities to abuse his success by sharing their narrow minded opinions with a gullible public.

Says something about a poster who calls racial equality a "narrow minded opinion".

I checked and F1 still applies the 107% rule but it has changed to being 107% of the fastest Q1 time and only for a dry track.

    For the Azerbaijan GP:
Hamilton was fastest in Q1 with a time of 1.41.545
107% rule will allow 7.108s or elimination time of 1.48.653
Mazepin time in Q1 was 1.44.238, which is well inside that time.

Even if outside the time the stewards can decided whether to eliminate.
