You really need to stop reading millennial hacks sybille.

It's a fucking study. And of course UEFA don't like it.

I can't say I'm a fan, however: "166 of FIFA's 210 national associations have given their backing to the research into the idea".

Everyone wants to host a World Cup.

But the idea of compressing all the international breaks into a shorter period is long overdue.

    Open your mind you luddite.

Not every change is bad. Not that I paid much attention to that Euro Nations League shite.

Following a proposal by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation in May, FIFA is now carrying out a feasibility study into the practicalities of altering the World Cup cycle from four years to two, meaning that continental championships (like the Gold Cup, European Championship and Copa America) would be sandwiched in the alternate years. The study is being led by former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger (now FIFA's Chief of Global Football Development) and 166 of FIFA's 210 national associations have given their backing to the research into the idea

    With 48 teams? Not interested.

And did I post otherwise, twat?
No, you were too busy have a cheap whinge about Wenger to actually make any sensible observation about his comments.

The "main instigator" was Saudi Arabia.

Which of course means MBS wants a World Cup in NEOM.

If either of you fuckers could read the ESPN link you might actually be able to discuss the subject without sounding like 12 year olds on Weibo.

    FFS.

And there are many nations, including Saudi Arabia, who want a shot at hosting a World Cup. Staging one every two years would enable FIFA to clear the backlog of nations including China, England, Morocco, Spain and Argentina who could otherwise be waiting for decades to stage a World Cup on home soil.
Personally I don't think any Oceania teams should be in the World Cup, for example.

My preference has always been a Davis Cup-style qualifying where teams play equal but progressively better competition so that by the time we get to the finals all of the participants are there on merit.

Let's face it, Qatar would never qualify for a WC in our lifetimes if it weren't for them hosting it (and I hope they get fucking stuffed in every game).

I remember Scotland/Ireland had a joint bid to host the WC.

I think that would be a fantastic choice, and we might have a chance to qualify on home soil.

    Greece . . . a powerhouse, but a former European Champion.

Germany is on a run against the heavy hitters of European football . . . vanquishing Armenia, Iceland and Liechtenstein. A clear favourite in the making.

Italy and their stupid run of 30+ games without loss . . . pffft . . . what have they done recently!!!

There are three contenders for the two top places in the B group and I think Spain will win the group so two contenders for the second place, Greece and Sweden.
Now Sweden has to win next time they meet Greece, would had been better if they'd won the first game.
I predict that they will fuck up next time also.

Given that the hosts get an automatic place, I'd say it's slightly more than a "chance"

Expectations are high this time around. There's a buzz around the camp and Clarke is making great progress.

We are fully capable of beating Ukraine, Wales and Austria.

Then we'll bomb out in the Group Stages against France, Italy and Germany. By a point.

I have a lot of respect for Steve Clarke, and I'm not at all surprised that he's improved Scotland.

He did a solid job for West Brom and departed with dignity.

After dealing with that wanker Anelka for far longer than most people could have tolerated.

Canada looking set to qualify as group winners after beating the US 2-0.

Surging Canada beat flat USA to take huge step towards 2022 World Cup | World Cup 2022 qualifiers | The Guardian

They've got a few players playing at top clubs in Europe so not really a surprise I spose, but it's interesting to see how the US have stagnated again. Maybe even gone backwards.

Poor Mao - deriding England won't be quite as much fun for him for a while.
