    2020 AFL Premiership

Well it was touch and go this season with covid 19 threatening to derail the whole AFL season but thanks to a bit of ingenuity and hardly any covid in Queensland (currently 4 active Covid cases). We have managed a shorten season through to the pointy end of the finals. Now down to the last four teams, with the two winners playing off in the Grand final next week.
Tonight its Port Adelaide V Richmond and tomorrow night Brisbane V Geelong. My tip is Port Adelaide tonight in a close one. I've gone with PA due to playing on their home ground which has to be worth 2 or 3 goals. This is the premiership the Richmond tigers need to win. There is always the suggestion that they have the advantage of playing the Grand Final on their home ground, the MCG. To win the Grand Final in Brisbane at the Gabba this year should quieten some of their critics, especially the interstate teams who have argued they have too big an advantage at finals time.
Saturdays game between Brisbane and Geelong should be a good spectacle. Brisbane have the home ground advantage but Geelong Cats play the ground pretty well. The home ground advantage certainly favours the Brisbane Lions. being a life long fanatical Cats supporter, I will not make a prediction on this game. The Battle of the felines should be a good one, with many tipping the lions, but never underestimate pussy power!
    Go Cats!!!!

It's a real pity Melbourne is in isolation and they can't hold the Grand Final at The G. There couldn't be too many more unforgettable experiences in sport for the players than running out onto that paddock with 100,000 people in attendance.

I agree, but this could be good for AFL. I believe their numbers at junior level have gone up substantially in Queensland during this season.

Well now the dust has settled and the tigers got past Port and Geelong accounted for Brisbane, the stage is set for a grand final between the two Victorian teams. It will be a fascinating game between 2 teams with different styles. I am hoping for a fairy tale ending for one of the greatest players of all time as he plays his last game and retires next week. Carn the Cats!

Port v Tigers was an excellent game, but unfortunately Port will have to settle for the minor premiership this year. Not too bad when many commentators did not expect them to make the finals! But the winner of that game will be this years champ I reckon, so my tip is Richmond. We'll see.

YES, spent most of my life there before moving to Thailand in the 90s and now currently residing in the Covid free (4 active cases in the state and no community transmitted cases for 30 days) Queensland and far enough away from the southern border with the NSW leper colony, where I can admire the sea views in beautiful weather while enjoying a coffee and confection at the local eatery and a good game of AFL football on the weekend.

And unfortunately more pain to come if the transfers are anything to go by. A once well run club with a long proud history that seems of late to be continually shooting itself in the foot.
I suppose you could put on some red sunglasses for the GF which should account for the sash colour.

Going for the Cats because i like Gary Ablett and Geelong has less Tats than Richmond.
Not the same feeling about the final because it's not at the MCG,cannot beat the big crowd atmosphere there.

Latest weather report suggests rain for the Grand Final which will favour Richmond over Geelong, as Geelong tend to play a tall team with a more marking style of game. Richmond tend to play a much more ground ball, push forward at all costs type of game which has proved very successful over the last few years. The downside is it is a very ugly brand of football from a spectator point of view. A wet day will fairly guarantee an ugly game.
