A basic error in the thread title has allowed KW to demonstrate what is missing. I honestly thought Bsnub would jump all over it with his love of fake American football.

Can't really judge players that one hasn't really seen, other than on a few grainy black and white video clips. (Pele)

Or a few extended match highlights and Netflix doco etc (Maraconner).

Can really only judge players that one has seen play live matches for season after season.

There's really only 2 that can top it. Ronaldo and Messi.

Plenty of other world class players out there (Giggs' 13 PL medals will never be beaten, fat Ronaldo's few break-out seasons, Zidane wasn't bad, Eddie Cheddar before his knee injury, etc.)

Good player, really came into his own after the age of 30, being more successful and productive throughout his whole career (as well as at least one European Cup) would move him up the ladder a bit.

Sure, if I hadn't googled his family name but written it as I remembered it then it would be Ibrahomowitch

George Best would have to be in there. I was never lucky enough to see him play, but I've never heard anyone say anything other than that he was up there with the very very Best (you see what I did there?).

Weirdly, despite having only ever watched about 0.98 NFL games in my life, I am familiar with all those names -- certainly more so than most of the footballers mentioned.

Thinking back, the name Anthony Mundine sticks in me head. Was, umm, on 'holiday' in NSW around 2001-2003 and the whole place be losing their sheet over the lad.

And that Lebo guy playing for the Bulldogs that scored something like 560,000,000 kicks without missing. Bruce El-Mazri or something.
