In need of attention are we?

I notice Bobby Charlton hasn't made a top 10 list yet. Worth watching some of his goals again, could score from anywhere.

In rugby there only about 10 competitive teams. Everyone else is just cannon fodder.

Surprised no one has mentioned Dennis Bergcamp. True quality.

I agree George Best should top the list. Sublime skills, but sadly flawed personality.

Just as well they used to have an adequate diet, they'd never be able to build an Empire with that stuff in their bellies.

Nothing wrong with baked beans, cheap, tasty and nutritious, add a dollop of butter, couple of eggs, season and dump onto a decent toasted bread for a treat.

This is true, football is generally more competitive (mostly owing to the more physical nature of rugby), but it might be closer than you think in terms of world cups: the FIFA World Cup has been won by 8 teams since 1930 and the RWC has been won by 4 since 1987.

I'm no football fan but I do get a kick (pun intended) out of the utterly meaningless bit of trivia that they only nation to go undefeated in the 2010 World Cup was New Zealand -- they didn't lose a single game... didn't win one either.

Anyways I mostly just taking the phish with that meme, it just popped-up in a Google search.

Cristiano Ronaldo becomes top goalscorer in football history

Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer in Serie A this season with 15 goals in 14 games; the 35-year-old believes he can play for "many, many more years"; Ronaldo says winning 2022 World Cup with Portugal would be a "dream"

Cristiano Ronaldo has surpassed Josef Bican for the most goals scored for club and country in football history - with his tally now at 760.

The Juventus forward has continued to defy his years since arriving from Real Madrid for around £100m in 2018 - and his strike against Napoli in the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday has now moved him top of the all-time scoring charts.

The 35-year-old five-time Ballon d'Or winner recently moved past Brazil legend Pele (757) - who moves down to third on the all-time list - while Romario is fourth (743) and Ronaldo's Barcelona rival Lionel Messi makes up the top five (719).

    His most prolific scoring year came in 2013 when he found the back of the net 69 times, but he also recorded 34 in 2007, 35 in 2008, 30 in 2009, 48 in 2010, 60 in 2011, 63 in 2012, 61 in 2014, 57 in 2015, 55 in 2016 and 53 in 2017.

    Cristiano Ronaldo goals:

    48 in 2010
    60 in 2011
    63 in 2012
    69 in 2013
    61 in 2014
    57 in 2015
    55 in 2016
    53 in 2017

    Simply ridiculous.
