    Pre season transfer thread

Ake to City agreed earlier today and they also signed some Spanish winger yesterday.

Rumours that a deal for Sancho with United and Dortmund is close with an initial fee being agreed in principle while other papers suggest a Jimenez transfer could be on the cards as well.

Only found out today that Lallana has signed for Brighton. Decent buy.

Most of the decision makers will be taking a well earned holiday.
Dont expect much activity until early September. The market is in flux due to Covid, but why would Brighton want an injury prone 31 year old on 75k a week? The owners must have more cash to burn than Aston Villa.

If you consider that excessive then I respectfully suggest that your Rothman's Football Yearbook 1992 is not the best resource.

Of course it’s excessive for a player his age with limited match opportunities for the last season, mostly due to recurrent injuries.
Throwing money at a problem does not make the problem go away. Ask Villa or Fulham. Nincompoop.

Some brown paper bags being passed around have resulted in us acquiring another sad cast-off for more than he's worth.

    Even Smudger is questioning it.

^ Will.I.Am, so therefore a reference to Willian? He's gone to Arsenal.

Willian: Arsenal sign former Chelsea midfielder on free transfer.

Arsenal have signed Brazil midfielder Willian on a three-year deal after the 32-year-old's contract with Chelsea expired.

The Blues had offered the player a new deal but were unwilling to match what the Gunners had on the table.

    Apparently 220k per week.

Taking home 35 million for 3 years of solid midtable-ism wouldn't be a bad retirement fund.

It's all silly money but at least he's got a record of putting the yards in unlike that Turkish wanker we are still paying to sit at home playing playstation.

    "Streamlining" *cough*

Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi has left the club and has been replaced by Vinai Venkatesham - with technical director Edu and boss Mikel Arteta now heading up their footballing and recruitment direction.

Fight between the Qatari and the Emirati.

To think, if the Barcodes deal had gone through, he could have been playing for the Toon.

Deaf to anything that isn’t published in the Guardian as an opinion piece.

I doubt he'll age as well as CR7.

Would imagine PSG on some sort of bodgy FFP 300 million euro loan deal would be about it.

Though didn't he have a hissyfit and 'quit' Argentina after they lost the CA final on penos. Bit of a drama queen.

^ Could be a power play to get more of a role in decision making and/or more money.

    33 years old.

His lowest number of goals in a season since 2007/8.

Take as much money as they can, from whichever set of arabs, and fok him off.

Arsenal have had a 22 mil bid for the Brazilian centre back Magalhaes accepted by Lille. It's up to him now to choose between them and Napoli, apparently.

Unsurprisingly, he was one of the 7000 players United get linked to every year.

    I can't see Messi leaving.

It would be heaping too much indignity on the (more than a) club, and there are so many that need to be shipped out before him.

Meanwhile...Pereira's loan deal from Sporting Lisbon has been made permanent at West Brom at a cost of 9 million.

    He's good value at that.

Napoli will pay silly money, because that's what they are charging Manchester Dhabi for Koulibaly.

Koeman will be next Barcelona manager with Messi key to plans, says president | Football | The Guardian

I bet he'll effectively be a co-manager. Heard he can be a right cnut on the training field with players he doesn't rate too.

Crazy what they're asking for a 29 year old in the current climate. Surely even the plastics won't pay that.

The 'Koeman's Coming Home' posters are a bit odd considering that he's just quit as his national team manager.
