Good points, but they could be argued.

The odds were 42/1 - I won a few quid on the last Wilder-Fury fight. Believe it or not, Fury's odds were similar from 40/1 up to something like 70/1 if bet on the correct round.

It was the end of the 8th he went down. Tyson was late going back to his corner and Douglas used the count to bide more time. as a boxer does. It was only Don King that had a moan and this was upheld.

Tyson was boxing uncharacteristically because his longterm trainer Kevin Rooney was sacked and replaced after the Spinks fight.

Not gonna add more fuel to the fire by talking about the partying in Japan and the ill-effect of his wife at the time (Robin Gibons).

Yup, was biggest ever odds (at the time).
And Don King was a dodgy mofo if ever one existed.

If you had money on that fight for Tyson to drop in the right round you'd be laughing.

People made money out of it for sure, but it certainly wasn't a fix.

    From the man himself.

“I was out of shape, more or less, I let myself get too heavy before the fight. I lost 25 pounds in Japan, in the last month before the fight. It was too much. I was training hard and just not eating. But really, I wasn’t worried going into the fight because I’d done it before and still won.

“When I beat (Jose) Ribalta, (Tony) Tucker and (Tony) Tubbs, I wasn’t in great shape, either. But I still beat those guys. I guess I figured it would work every time. So I fell into sloppy habits.

“This time, though, I picked the wrong opponent to do that with. I don’t mean to tear down Buster Douglas because he was really prepared to fight me and did a good job, but he didn’t beat Mike Tyson. He beat an out-of-shape guy who didn’t prepare properly".
I can remember the commentary at the time suggesting Tyson hadn't taken it seriously and hadn't trained properly.

Holy shit! How did we go from discussing Mike Tyson training, to you knuckleheads talking about duking it out?

    Lighten up, Francis!

It's almost as embarrassing as hi talking about what a good root his last conquest in Florida/Burriram was.

Seems there is a trend towards having a dodgy hair cut means you are a dodgy character and Don King was as dodgy as they come.

These days Trump, Boris and that North Korean geezer are hairstyle trendsetters.

^ ^^ Tyson still in good shape. Supposedly going to do an exhibition bout with his old Nemesis, Evander Holyfield.. Evander Holyfield confirms third fight with Mike Tyson is close to being finalised | GiveMeSport

Tbh, Tyson didn't take a lot of punishment in his career, even when he got beat. Holyfield on the other hand was in tons of epic battles, and sounds very punchy in recent Youtube vids and interviews. Hope it doesn't get licensed, tbh. Guys like Holyfield never know when to quit.

Bruno v Tyson documents their bouts and all the background and is on tpb.

Feels like a hundred years ago.

    Well worth watching.

I remember that quite well. Never been the biggest boxing fan but for some reason I was backing Bruno (I feel those two statements are related).

Probably more for shits 'n giggles and the whole underdog thing.
