Who cares what shape the ball is, snowflake?

It's still an entirely convict game in which no-one else has the slightest interest.

I expect roo shagging is probably number two but you're too ashamed to admit it.

^Maybe Rex Hunt aka The Bearded Burbler?. I know he was an ex player and did commentary, but didn't see either and only know of him from watching his highly entertaining fishing shows years ago.

Yeah that sounds familiar, was going to guess 'Hunt' actually but thought I might be conflating it with someone else... Maybe even that fishing show you mention, that rings a bell too.

Anyways him or not the point being back at Uni we had a drinking game based around him and watching the AFL highlights show.

Can't remember much of the rules, a skull each time he said something maybe. It was a good drinking game!

^The skol another drink words in his fishing shows would have been *yibbeda yibbeda*. For sure you could find his shows online somewhere, they were really entertaining and some of the places they fished were spectacular.

Rex Hunt's Fishing Adventures, i used to love them as a youth.

    And Bush Tucker Man

    Kylie and Jason

    Rolf

The bikini clad beach exercise workout early morning show, forgot the name

    Dame Edna

Never got into AFL with those vests and gay short shorts played on that weird shaped pitch though

    Yep that's the dude!

Never seen a game of AFL in me life but watched his AFL show religiously.

Was on a Wed arvo so the perfect mid-week session at Uni.

He called the games, but on radio. Absolute nutter. His favourite saying was the crowd is going Ape droppings.... Or other such nonsense.

I've seen one; enough for both of us.

Nah; I got a bit confused about the rules.Fun game and fair. I think all of the 100 players got to touch the "ball"

"come on East Perth;give us another couple of goals" (WACA early 88 ?)

Heck, you can only follow so many sports. Being a recently repatriated Adelaidean, aussie rules is the biggie- and I do enjoy the game. I'd like to watch more League, but we don't get it on Netflix or free TV, no pub shows it here, and I'm not going to subscribe to another pay service just to get it. Union seems pretty moribund in Oz, but I don't mind watching a Test. Or the HK sevens.

Gridiron & soccer- nah, boring. We get highlights of some games on the News- that's plenty.

I enjoy watching the former but only in replays.

Way too many breaks and stoppages in real-time, does me head in.

For all of the underprivileged who sadly have not been brought up with the worlds' greatest game, here are the rules explained, including a bit of history and where the game is played bearing in mind this video is a few years old now..
    Just a warning Harry.
This video contains shots of real men playing football. Please tighten your incontinence pad. I'd hate you to sustain any leakage.

One of the main reasons I simply cannot watch Union, which is a fast game compared to American Football

Oh well each to their own and all that.

Personally speaking I'm a RU fan first and foremost but don't mind a bit of the 'ole RL. I used to watch a lot when it was on RugbyPass but not so much since they lost the rights.

Also I don't have a team to support which doesn't help... And no, the fkn useless Warriors aren't my team!!

AFL and such other stuff well mostly never been exposed to it to bother (and likely probably never will be).

Exactly. It'd be a boring world if we all like the same one thing, sports included.

If everyone followed AFL there would be World peace, poverty would've been eliminated and there would be no global warming. Australia and more importantly, the MCG, would be considered the centre of the universe.
My apologies... I just check that last statement for accuracy with friends in Melbourne and they tell me it already is.

I know what it is. It's just not that interesting.

Which is the opinion of most of the world, despite your laughable title.

It sometimes gets called the sporting capital of the world and if attendances per capita to live events held there are anything to go by, it quite possibly is. Then there's the MCG (or just The G to locals), what a venue that is. Not many Cricketers don't rate walking out in front of 80,000+ people for a Boxing day Test a career highlight, even Poms say it too . Can't even begin to imagine how loud it must be in there and the atmosphere with 100,000+ at AFL Grand Finals.
