Former Rugby League Player Kills Entire Family

This probably doesn’t go in the sports forum.

CNN)Ex-rugby league player Rowan Baxter, his wife and their three young children have died after he allegedly set alight their car in Brisbane, Australia.

Baxter, a former member of Auckland's New Zealand Warriors squad in Australia's National Rugby League (NRL), allegedly filled a gas can with fuel at a local service station, before dousing the car containing his wife and children, and setting it alight, according to multiple Australian news reports.
Police said in a statement they were called to a car fire about 8.30 a.m. local time Wednesday and three children aged six, four and three were found dead inside.

Tragic events that unfolded yesterday and the tragedy added to by the mother passing in Hospital recently.

All the talk is about the NRL Player, where, in fact, he never actually played for the New Zealand Warriors first grade side ...

A member of the New Zealand Warriors NRL squad in the mid-2000s without playing a first grade game, Mr Baxter had until recently ran a Brisbane fitness centre with his wife who was a trampolining champion.

Predictably some quarters of the media are going on about he was 'a great bloke' and a 'good athlete' with a "cheeky side to him".

    Fuck. Off.

He's a fucking monster who killed his family in one of the most terrifying ways imaginable. A toxic human that slaughtered his family in the most excruciatingly painful way.

The whole ex NRL player is bullshit click-bait, his claim to fame was being in a trials team 15 years ago and he's never played 1 second of NRL. Not to say a current or former NRL player (or any other sportsman) couldn't have turned into a monster for whatever reasons and done the same thing, but despite the hype it's not the case here.

Totally unfathomable.. Head trauma and 'roid abuse.? Nothing in the story about him having previous issues.

According to ABC News Australia, 42-year-old Baxter had self-inflicted stab wounds and got himself out of the car, but died at the scene.

She suffered significant burns and was helped out of the vehicle by a man after the fire started. He also suffered burns and was taken to hospital.

It's not just the ex-football players, Mark Pavelich ex-NHL played for the NY Rangers in the early 80's and was a member of the US 1980 Olympic 'Miracle on Ice' hockey team that beat the USSR for the gold, was found incompetent to stand trial for the severe beating of a neighbour with a metal pipe. He accused the neighbour of spiking his beer. It is believed he too is suffering from CTE. The state of Minnesota is seeking to have him committted.

He is a small guy (173cm & 77Kg) but I remember him form his time at the Rangers. Always played with plenty of heart and took plenty of hits

All's fair in love and war...this has to have been a lover's tiff that spiralled out of control.

I wonder which of the kids he found out wasn't his...

Yes, that gives a whole new meaning to “spiraled out of control”.

Such a horrible tragedy, that the events that led him to commit such an unspeakable act, are almost insignificant.

Yep and they shouldn't be used to mitigate either.

He was a fucking monster who murdered his own family.

Yeah they are pretty odd comments -- to say the least -- but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

My sincerest apologies...i was having a Chico moment.

It turns out that this was his estranged wife and she had had already suffered from domestic violence issues.
