So much for "too much football".

The Premier League recorded a drop in the number of injuries recorded, from 944 in 2022/23 to 915 last season.
The Bundesliga had the highest number of injuries recorded for the second season running – 1,255 in 2023-24.
For all the discussion around fixture congestion and the requirement for players to rest, it was perhaps surprising that an 18-team top flight should lead the way, and one that features a six-week winter break.

A sentence I never would have imagined would ever exist:

Steve Coogan will be playing Mick McCarthy in a feature length film.

    Saipan (film) - Wikipedia

The main thing I'll be watching for is how close Keano's actor gets his accent.

I remember Syb being quite impressed with Christian Bale doing Ken Smith (and Bkk Phil) in Ford v Ferrari.

I just hope the poor fooker didn't need to go live in Mayfield for a yea... mont... wee.... day.

Hopefully they won't hold back on the agro. I remember the story about a 19/20 yr old Keane out on tour in the US with the national team, out on the piss and late getting up. Held up the entire bus. When he finally got down he walked on and Captain Mick starts hollering 'You're a disgrace, you call yourself a professional', Keane turns around in front of everyone and immediately retorts 'You call what you have a first-touch?'

    Ouch.

I see the kiddie fiddlers took the opportunity to insult Remembrance Day by singing tawdry chants during the minute's silence.

Their pathetic excuse might not have been so transparent if they'd actually sung about Gaza and not one of their dead paedo terrorists.

    Comfortable 3-0 win for England.

    Never in doubt.

Now for Ireland, who struggled to a flat 1-0 win v Finland, on Sunday.

Can't get off the bench for Brighton. Even when they're chasing a lead, they'd rather bring on a full back than poundshop.

    Calls Kane a donkey.

You'd better hope your new girl doesn't have much homework to do this weekend cos you're gonna need a shoulder when we splatter you 6 nowt tomorrow.

they walked off the pitch and refused to play.

If it is judged to be Romania's fault the game is abandoned, they will get... a 3-0 win.

Mad fing is Romania has always had a hardcore fascist element (majority?).

But walking off cos the fans sang nasty songs about you?

I went to Bucharestt to see United when we hsd to play in a CL qualifier in the early 2000s. Can't remember the exact year (Nev/Ed?), but I got so pissed I fell in the hotel bath, couldn't get out and slept there for most of the night.

    Oh Cantona, I love alcohol.

Life is a bit tougher in League A.

    And Modric is barely human.

The boy done good after leaving Chelsea.

After 8 years at the club, Oscar is set to leave Chinese side Shanghai Port. The Brazilian has also pocketed a hefty retirement fund, earning approximately £160m from his reported £20m-a-year salary in Shanghai.

Official hosts of the World Cup 2034.

As well as the World Cup, Saudi Arabia is hosting football's 2027 Asian Cup, the 2029 Asian Winter Games and the 2034 Asian Games.

I reckon we might have a sniff at qualifying from that group. Tommy must be ecstatic.

England will face Serbia, Albania, Latvia and Andorra in 2026 World Cup qualifying

Unbelievable yet totally predictable once again.

Play all games at Wembley and everyone's playing at home.

England could hardly have paid for a better group, Tuchel on a hiding to nothing as no doubt they are eliminated by Germany in some epic penalty shoot out.

Wales look like the only other UK nation to progress IMHO

Scotland recently took a point off Portugal and we beat Denmark.

I'd be more worried about Greece but we have as much chance of qualifying as any other team in the group.

That's what makes it a tough group.

My bastard of a BiL keeps sending me tricky questions, and I have to admit this is a right brain teaser.

    WITHOUT GOOGLING IT:

Name any of the nine English-born managers currently in charge of International teams.

    I couldn't name one!
