It's a shame about Vietnam, I even had the hotel booked for this year. But it seems the politician who was pivotal in getting this on the calendar has been caught with his hands in the till (not this one, but who knows?). I understand Liberty are still trying to persuade Vietnam to go ahead with it but it isn't looking good.

Otherwise a massive 23 races on the calendar next year.

Formula 1 revealed today its provisional calendar for the 2021 season. Barring any more pandemic-related global shutdowns, 2021 will be the most race-packed year of any season in history, with 23 events planned.
The 2021 championship will kick off in Melbourne on March 21, before heading to Bahrain, then Shanghai. A venue for the fourth race, set to be held in late April, has yet to be decided after plans for an event in Vietnam were scrapped. It's likely F1 will bring back one of the one-off circuits used for the 2020 season—Imola, Mugello, the Nürburgring, or Portimão—to fill the slot.
After that, the series bounces around Europe for a bit, hitting Spain and Monaco in May. It then heads to Azerbaijan before leaving for Canada, then comes back to Europe to race in France, Austria, the U.K., Hungary, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Italy. From there, it heads East to Russia, bouncing to Singapore, then Japan. After that, the championship goes to the Americas, with races in Austin, Mexico City, and Sao Paulo.
A big change change is the addition of a Saudi Arabian Grand Prix happening late in the season, first announced last week. It's followed by the season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The full provisional schedule can be seen below.
    Provisional 2021 F1 calendar

    • 21 March – Australia (Melbourne)
    • 28 March – Bahrain (Sakhir)
    • 11 April – China (Shanghai)
    • 25 April – TBC (TBC)
    • 9 May – Spain (Barcelona)
    • 23 May – Monaco (Monaco)
    • 6 June – Azerbaijan (Baku)
    • 13 June – Canada (Montreal)
    • 27 June – France (Le Castellet)
    • 4 July – Austria (Spielberg)
    • 18 July – United Kingdom (Silverstone)
    • 1 August – Hungary (Budapest)
    • 29 August – Belgium (Spa)
    • 5 September – Netherlands (Zandvoort)
    • 12 September – Italy (Monza)
    • 26 September – Russia (Sochi)
    • 3 October – Singapore (Singapore)
    • 10 October – Japan (Suzuka)
    • 24 October – USA (Austin)
    • 31 October – Mexico (Mexico City)
    • 14 November – Brazil (Sao Paulo)
    • 28 November – Saudi Arabia (Jeddah)
    • 5 December – Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi)

It's important to note this calendar isn't final—Formula 1 still has yet to finalize contracts with race organizers in Spain and Brazil.

Thank god it was cancelled. Just another wankfest for you and the joke this season is. Just stacking the deck for your fake champion.

The drivers were complaining about the track being slippery before Quali, but then it rained.

Stroll becomes the first Canadian since Villeneuve in 1997 to get a Pole.

Going to a great race, if it rains, even more so.

Brilliant race so far although Mad Max has probably blown his chance to win it with his usual impatience...

One of the best drives of his career. Did you see the state of those tyres at the end? He has such supreme confidence in his ability to manage any conditions and next year it will be 8. He really is in a class of his own.

Super drive for Perez for 2nd.

And Grumpy will take great satisfaction in stiffing Pepe for a podium at the end there.

Bottas was hopeless and I lost count of his spins at four.

    Turkish GP race result
    1) Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes
    2) Sergio Perez, Racing Point
    3) Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari
    4) Charles Leclerc, Ferrari
    5) Carlos Sainz, McLaren
    6) Max Verstappen, Red Bull
    7) Alexander Albon, Red Bull
    8) Lando Norris, McLaren
    9) Lance Stroll, Racing Point
    10) Daniel Ricciardo, Renault

^ Albon in theory has a Red Bull drive but it is not looking good, honesty again I thought he was unlucky today.. he kept it together looked quick in a good part of the race and aside from a spin on battered tyres made some good moves.

Yes, I thought Albon raced very well and perhaps deserved better at the end. He was only a couple of seconds behind Mad Max at the end.
It was a cracking race, all the young blades made errors on a treacherous surface. Bottas too.

I think Bottas was auditioning for "Dancing on Ice".

Race 1 of Bahrain's double header.

The second should be a cracker, they are using the outside with one of the shortest laps and there will be something like 87 of them.

These are local times, GMT+3 so add four hours for Thailand.

Well, it looks like whatever odds he had of retaining his Red Bull drive, it's been reduced a fair bit now.

It rained in Bahrain on Thursday night and again before FP1. (It rained again last night too, apparently).

Still looked a bit of a schoolboy error though.

It is looking like he just gave away his Red Bull seat. The next question is: Who will replace Albon?

Did everyone see the weird test rigs they showed yesterday? Normally they use them in pre-season testing, but because they were testing the 2021 tyres yesterday, I think (at least from the pictures I saw on Sky) that they allowed it in FP1 as well.

(These pics are from a proper Bahrain F1 Testing session).

Mad Max took FP3 from Hammy and Bottas, with an extremely wobbly DRS.

Quali in a couple of hours.

    Hammy loves this track.

    1. Hammy
    2. Bottas
    3. Mad Max
    4. Albon (earning his seat?)
    5. Perez
    6. Ricciardo

^ A little slow from Albon compared to Mad Max. Much will depend on where he finishes in the race. I'd like to see him on the podium for this one as it will give him confidence after that crash.

I didn't realise just how bad Ferrari are this year. They are not even close to second in the Constructors.

To be fair, not many drivers will be super close to Max in the same car, he is amongst the best, IMHO.

Based on recent performances, it remains to be seen if Albon can keep it on the black stuff for a whole race. Even first lap into T1, starting on the dirty side of the track behind Bottas, he is an accident waiting to happen. Again, only MHO.
