The way this season is going, I'm not sure they would have even bothered turning up.
I do love Kimi. They were showing a highlight reel of Brundle fails.
He goes up to Kimi and says "Did you see the Pele speech?".
Kimi says "No".
Brundle says "Ah you missed it"
Kimi says "I was having a shit".
Best hope for today's race is the Mercs take each other out in the first corner and leave the rest to race
Let the Mercs run away at the front, if they can. There is still the prospect of an excellent race behind them. McLaren, Racing Point, Red Bull and Renault all in the mix and less than 0.2 of a second separated the qualifying times of third through seventh. One unknown is how the single engine mode will affect each team over race distance. I am looking forward to it.
What is happening is exactly why I stated earlier that the season should be cancelled. LH is getting a free championship. I sure hope that there is an asterisk next to his name regarding this year. Fucking most overrated driver in the history of the sport.
Oh, great another drunk Toyota Camry driving non enthusiast. Fuck off switch you twat. You know nothing about motors at all.
Poor old snubby, he's almost in tears at the embarrassing Ferrari car and their shit drivers.
Must be something wrong with Bottas, he's pulling a caravan.
Grumpy's gone Thai!
"Brakes Failed. Brakes Failed."
Looks like they are trying out a new handicapping system to give everyone else a chance.
I was just about to say this could be Pepe's race......
Ten second stop-go penalty for Hammy.... so about a 30 second head start for everyone. Presumably They will bring him out in clear air.
Race red flagged..... Hammy can do the penalty now.
I think they just scratched the Ferrari putting it on the truck.
Bad mistake from Mercedes to bring Hamilton in when pit was closed but at least Airporttwo got his wish.
I missed the opening laps, what happened to Bottas?
Ferrari are paying back the technical debt from last year's cheating. Harry was right with that...
Well done Gasly, McLaren are back.
looked to me like he just "lost the plot" nerves getting the better of him, loss of confidence, appears there was nothing wrong with the car?
Was an interesting race, good to see someone have a life changing moment, reckon he deserves it after Red Bull demoted him last year, be interesting to see if they "promote" him again and replace Albon? The politics in F1 must be mind numbing!
""That was a difficult day out there," lamented Bottas. "The start was pretty poor and on the first lap, I had a bit of contact and I actually thought I had a puncture because I had big understeer in (turns) 6 and 7.
"And then out of 7, I was pulling to one side, so going into to Turn 8 I was really cautious because I was sure that I had a puncture, but it turns out I didn't."
Bottas never raced higher than P5 all afternoon, holding that spot despite having to contend with overheating issues.
"I was suffering some overheating issues with the engine running in traffic, so there wasn’t much I could do," he added.
"Every time I got close to another car, I had to back off due to the overheating or look for clean air on the straights, which meant I couldn't follow any cars, I couldn't race them, so it felt long.""
Anyone could have won that race, the mid-table teams are all really close, so I think the pitstop and the red flag made a huge difference. Was an interesting race, good to see someone have a life changing moment, reckon he deserves it after Red Bull demoted him last year, be interesting to see if they "promote" him again and replace Albon? You can't really read anything into it other than that it was one of those rare occasions that Gasly didn't make a rick or get in a fight with another car.
Good luck to him. If he never gets near it again it's still a lifetime trophy that few have.
Definitely the timing of Gasly's pit stop was the key to his win. Of course, he still had to drive for the win and it was good to see him and the car make it over the line. It all made for an interesting race. Hamilton made up those places towards the end on a circuit where everyone says it is difficult to overtake, he almost made it look easy.
Bottas must be the loser out of that race. He is driving the 'best' car and was within 7 hundredths of Hamilton in qualifying but in racing mode when his chief rivals were out or behind him he completely failed to shine.
