    RIP Bury FC

It's a fucking shame these bandits are allowed to take over football clubs and bleed them dry.

Bury FC have been expelled from the English Football League after more than 120 years, following financial problems and failed takeovers.

But behind the collapse is a team with a proud footballing history, including two FA Cup titles, and a record for goals scored in four divisions of the EFL

Two: The number of FA Cup wins, in 1900 and in 1903. In 1900 they beat Southampton 4-0 and in 1903, they beat Derby 6-0. They didn't concede any goals during the whole tournament.

125: Number of years in the Football League, having been elected in 1894. They previously played in the Lancashire League, where they won two titles. They were formed as a merger of Bury Wesleyans and Bury Unitarians, two church teams, in 1885.

134: Number of years they have been at Gigg Lane, having secured the land in 1885. The ground is one of the oldest in the world.

1,000: The record. The Shakers are the only club to have reached four figures for the number of goals scored in each of the four divisions in the Football League. They claimed the record in 2005.

8-0: The club's record win against Tranmere in Division Three in 1970. It matches their record league losses, to Sheffield United in 1896 and to Swindon in 1979. In 1983 they lost a League Cup tie to West Ham 10-0.

85: Bury's highest points total in a season, in League Two in 2014-15. However, the 68 they finished the 1960-61 season with in Division Three would equate to 98 under the modern system which gives three points for a win.

108: The highest number of goals they scored in a season, also in 1960-61. In the same season they won 30 matches, and went 18 games unbeaten.

129: The number of goals scored by Craig Madden, the club's record league goalscorer, with 35 in one season in Division Four, between 1981-2.

508: Norman Bullock's league appearances as part of club record of 539 in all competitions.
132: Years they have entered the FA Cup, first entering in 1887.

Fourth: Bury's highest ever finish comes in 1925 in the First Division.

Three: The number of times they have been relegated - in 1929, 1957, and 1971.

Four: The number of times they have been promoted - in 1894, back to back in 1995-6 and then 1996-7, and in 2018.

Totally agree. Bury were the first team I went to see. Must have been 1968. When I were a lad all the players came from the town they played for. Fully lost interest when the money took over.

It's a real shame. One hundred and thirty five years of history gone. One of the pillars of the community lost because businessmen were too busy playing Charlie Big Potatoes with no concern for the people who make clubs what they are- the fans.

Much of the blame is being left at the door of Dale, who bought the club for £1 in December from previous owner Stuart Day. Dale spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live on Friday, ahead of the deadline and while he was still trying to sell the club, and stunned listeners by admitting he had never previously heard of the club and would not find it difficult to walk away from the situation. ‘I never went to Bury. It’s not a place I frequented,’ Dale told 5 Live. ‘So for me to walk away from Bury and never go back is a very easy thing to do. ‘I don’t do anything up there. I didn’t even know there was a football team called Bury to be honest with you. ‘I’m not a football fan.’

Did Monty Python write this guy's script ?

Just another illustration that if you have a bit of money, you can do whatever the fukc you want in football, sports, or life generally.
